buildingmaint
How much do you think pro athletes regret leaving their teams for more money only to have old team win ?[Example Plexico Burress leaving the Steelers}. Or leaving college for the pros only to sit on the bench{example Pitt's Chris Taft.}Is it all about money ,or do they really want to win?
MrAsterisk
Depends on the player. It's as simple as that. There's no broad generalization to be made for all althletes.I'm sure Plaxico was feeling pretty crappy, though.
TFoA
Nomar Garciaparra. He had to feel it, after being IMO the face of the Red Sox for a good few years, he leaves, and the next year the Sox break the curse. I know he was a little bit mad about that. FiddySicks
Honestly if your a pro athlete i dont think you think about it that much. You feel good for your former team mates, maybee call them up to congradulate them, then you move on and start focusing on next year. You dont worry because you didnt win a ring with your old team, you worry about winning one with your current team. HowBoutThemFins
How about Mourning signing off with the Nets in search of a title before retiring, returning, being traded to Toronto, being bought-out and returning to Miami looking to jump on Shaq's back for a title run. infrared41
There is no guarantee that the teams these players left would have won had the players stayed. They'll never know. That's the chance you take I guess. I don't think Boston wins in '04 if Nomar had stuck around. The team chemistry would have been entirely different and that's the key to your entire question. Are the Steelers better without Plaxico? Apparently they are because they didn't win with him. So to answer your question, they can regret their decisions all they want but in the end it doesn't mean anything because they'll never know what might have happened. As a few have already noted some players leave their teams for a shot at a ring. It works for some (Clemens, Bourque, etc.) and it doesn't work for others (Malone & Payton, Mourning etc.) At best you can hope that fate deals you a kind hand so you may as well get some cash and not worry about it. Which I think is bull. And if he signed the offer that the Sox offered him in the winter of '04, then he would of probably never gotten traded, which would of led to the Sox never winning the World Series. MrAsterisk
What's wrong with Kirilenko's other arm in your sig? How do you think he blocks all those shots without a bionic arm? He was pushing off a Pacers player in the best photo I found, and the other arm was obscured, so I thought I'd do something crazy:
