NCAA considers adding Canadian School

Doesn't bother me all that much. In fact, since CIS doesn't sponsor intercollegiate baseball, all the Canadian schools that sponsor it play in the NAIA.

Well I found that British Columbia plays in the NAIA, but the eastern Canadaian teams have their own association apart from the CIS

well having a Canadian university in the NCAA is certianly much different than say having Simon Fraser who were in the NAIA for a few years. The thing with St. Clair College is that they are not in CIS, and since their college association dropped hockey they are looking for a place to play. There is an actual difference between "college" and "university" in Canada.

I saw, I came, I left.

I think it would be great for basketball and hockey. Football would be interesting since I presume the CIS uses canadain rules, teams would have to adjust.

that would be so awesome even better is that ubc is one of those teams thats is trying to get in to the ncaa. This might help to have more Canadians in the NFL, NBA,MLB and now i wouldnt have to go move to play hockey in the ncaa.

Div. I hockey teams already play CIS teams, but it's usually preseason or friendly matches.

yeah, and for the last few years, Carleton, the Canadian national basketball champions have been playing preseason games against NCAA Div I teams.

I saw, I came, I left.

I like this idea from the men's and women's volleyball side. More schools for mens volleyball will give D-1 more than a final 4 for their tournament.

Plus, I go to the Womens volleyball final four and I would love to go to a Canadian city to watch.

Is there a Title IX or similar "gender eqiuty" law in Canada? Might that become an issue?

I wonder if they'd change the "Major Junior" rule for hockey.

It would be interesting. Hockey would probably be the only sport it would majorly effect. But even then there would have to be alot of CIS crossovers to make a difference. Cause only a few CIS hockey teams can compete with top NCAA teams.

That's not my point.

When was the last time UGAly played a non conference opponent on the road, outside of the south?

Or better yet, when was the last time UGA traveled outside of the south to play ANY non conference road game?

The answer, Michigan. 1965.

Auburn might have been beat by USC when we went there but at least we weren't to scared to leave our precious hedges to go play them.

Speaking of being scared, what was the real reason why Auburn pulled out of playing Florida State a few years back?

Because the game was set up as "Bowden Bowl" and was going the be the first time Bobby Bowden coached against one of his sons.

When Terry the Leprechaun left we were left we wanted nothing left to remind us of him.

You can say scared that's fine, but we've played FSU before with weaker teams.

Who cares, they still can't beat the Gators at the Cocktail Party... ^_^

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008
