Grish
How big does the draft day trade of Vick for L.T. now look? Will this curb teams from making trades? The Falcons must be kicking themselves each week as L.T. looks to be a top 10 RB all time at this point in his career and they must debate if they should rid themself of Vick. After all, Marty and his playcalling wouldn't be there, and more importantly, no Lorenzo Neal. In addition, you think Atlanta would trade the attention (good and bad) and cash they get with Ron Mexico guiding the offence? Before 1998 really, did anyone ever remember that Atlanta had an NFL team? Before this season, did anyone realise that San Diego had a team for no other reason than their powder blue throwback uniforms? [Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008 Attention: In order to obtain maximum enjoyment from your stay at the CCSLC, the reader is advised that the above post may contain large amounts of sarcasm, dry humour, or statements which should not be taken in any true sort of seriousness. STL FANATIC
There's plenty of worse trades.Vick's at least done something. Even if it's mostly hype, there's still hype, and that's enough to make it not an awful trade. And, drafted player or not, there have been FAR worse trades. It hasn't stopped other teams from trading.I mean, look at the trade where the Rams picked up Marshall Faulk (who I think LT is VERY similar to) from the Colts.Steals, much bigger steals than LT for Vick, happen all the time.Trades go on. HedleyLamarr
Vick has (currently) won more playoff games than Tomlinson. Also, there was no guarentee that Tomlinson would have been available when the Falcons picked, and their more pressing need at the time was QB, not RB. TFoA
Hedley brought up a great point. Until LT wins some playoff games, then I won't be kicking myself. I am kicking myself for the fact that we hired some ineptitude at the HC position, but as for the Vick-LT thing, I'd still take Vick knowing what I knew then. Even now with this whole debacle that is this season.
Jigga
I think the worse trade (again benefitting the Bolts) was the more recent Giants-Chargers swap that gave San Diego the rights to Phillip Rivers and the picks that were used to draft Nate Kaeding (2004, #3) and Shawne "Steroids" Merriman (2005, #1) and to trade for Roman Oben (2005, #3, traded to Tampa) in exchange for the rights to Eli Manning. Tazz013
What good would LT do the Falcons? They lead the league in rushing yards every year without him.If you want lopsided trades, see John Elway to Denver for Ron Solt; Herschel Walker to Minnesota for three Lombardi Trophies; and Brett Favre to Green Bay for Tony Smith. Save the slugalo.
twi
Tomlinson does look great right now, but I think Vick has more improvement in him than LT does. So I'll hold off 1-2 seasons before deciding. Sidenote: How are some people so down on Vick and so high on Young?
TFoA
Sidenote: How are some people so down on Vick and so high on Young? No idea. Vick's having one of his best seasons, yet take a trip to the AtlantaFalcons.com boards, and you'd think he's the worst QB in the NFL. But the weird thing is, they were talking about this recently, and they'd still take Vick. I swear, we have the worst fans in the NFL.
FiddySicks
I think everyone just summed up what ive been saying to everyone for the last few years. At the time SD needed a franchise running back more than a quick QB, and Atlanta needed a quick QB more than a franchise running back. I seriously doubt LT wouldve fit in Atlanta as well as Vick has and vice versa. I think both teams won huge on the trade, as it pulled them both from being year to year doormats and into the spotlight from being almost completely ignored. Both teams won huge, end of story. Its not Vick's fault that management hasnt signed anyone tht can catch a ball worth a damn. Cyclopsis Joe
Well, if Tomlinson was a bad trade because he had one good season, then Favre should be a worse trade because of all the good seasons he's had.Don't you know? We're talking sports, all that matter is stats. I don't speak for democrats, democrats don't speak for me.

We're talking sports, all that matter is stats. One good season? He still has not had a season where he rushed for less than 1200 yards. I would say that he has had about 6 good seasons, and will have many more. He averages about 17 rushing touchdowns a year. I am not saying it was a horrible trade, both teams got what they wanted. It doesn't make sense to get a player that is good when you don't need anybody at that position, so it was smart for them to trade and get what they both needed. I just find it crazy that you can say LaDainian Tomlinson has only had one good season

VERY few fans truly stick with not only their team, but players, and coaches through thick and thin. Those same people were probably nutting themselves over Vick and Mora 3 years ago.I'm sure every team has these fans, but there's one case I've witnessed up close and personal: the Carolina Panthers. I'll tell you upfront that the Panthers are my least favorite team in the NFL. But, it's ridiculous to see how many fans this year were trashing Jake Delhomme - when these VERY same fans (yes, I mean the exact same people - my grandpa has PSL season tickets and I've sat around many of the same people for 10 years) were wearing their "Got Jake?" shirts in 2003. Yes, they kept their season tickets, but to do a complete 360 is a joke.As one of those loyal, thick and thin fans, it makes me sick. But, I know there were 49ers fans who did the same thing to, say, Kevan Barlow and were nowhere to be seen in 2004 (2-14) but fair-weather fans in general... you. However, they'll ALWAYS be there...just accept it for what it is.
DG_YouKnowWhatThatMeans
Trades aren't all about stats. LT might have the highest-selling jersey this season, but I have a feeling there have been more Vick jerseys sold overall than Tomlinson. Both sides ended up with a very, very marketable player and Atlanta even has an NFC Championship game appearance to show for it. I think that based on the teams' respective bottom lines, neither regrets the trade too much at all. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags
