P.S., if Illinois beats Northwestern this week, a not-all-that-far-fetched-scenario exists in which the Illini would become BCS Bowl-eligible, one year after going 2-10.

Personally, I'd find a possible Illinois-Florida matchup in either the Capital One Bowl or the Outback Bowl more intriguing.

Although I am curious about something, assuming Illinois hadn't blown it against Iowa.

Hey willmorris...if OSU were to beat Michigan this week, and Illinois hadn't lost to Iowa, how would the Big Ten have sorted out the "Circle of Death" with those 3 teams for the autobid? Is the longest drought tiebreaker still in effect?

The blogosphere's buzzing that Lloyd Carr is announcing his retirement after the OSU game.

No report on whether or not Les Miles put his Baton Rouge house on the market.

The way he's been coaching at LSU, he's just waiting for one of his gambles to go awry so the Tiger fans can start shooing him out of the door. I truly believe that if the UM job opens up, he's taking it.

Yeah, I think he's done either way. There's no recovering from that loss to Appalachian State. I figured as soon as they lost to Wisconsin that Michigan fans would be loudly calling for his head again. If he loses to Ohio State again this Saturday his biggest concern won't be whether or not to retire, it will be getting out of the Big House alive. GO BUCKS!

you and i both know that michigan fans are too worried about their high-class image to get that rowdy on national television <_< , but we'll see if they have to. GO BLUE!

Are we assuming that'd they would all be tied at 7-1 (that Wisconsin had not beaten Michigan)?

If that had been the case, H2H proves nothing, as does the number of 1-AA teams you played. Overall record gives it to Ohio State though (which means that had Illinois not played Western Illinois, they'd win this three way tie.)

We are assuming Wisconsin would still beat Michigan...but yes, I wondered how a 3-way tie would sort itself out since Illinois beat OSU, OSU beat Michigan, and Michigan beat Illinois....putting them all at 7-1.

Thanks for the answer.

Over on espn.com, both Ivan Maisel and Mark Schlabach are projecting Illinois v. Florida in the Capital One Bowl, which even if you're not a fan of either program presents a pretty intriguing matchup.

Oh...and Texas shivered Cap'n Leach's timbers, as the Red Raiders did their best HMS Queen Mary impression, losing to Texas 59-43

Cap'n Leach wants to make some refs walk the plank.

Cap'n Leach must give the HMS Big Twelve some of his treasure.

Coach Leach, IT'S DIVISION ONE FOOTBALL. IT'S THE BIG XII. You don't like the referees we pick? Well go coach intramurals, brother. Go coach intramurals.

Well, the SEC has "Crooming", and I guess the Pac 10 may have "Stoopsing"

Arizona leads #2 Oregon 17-11 in the 2nd Quarter....BUT Dennis Dixon is out with a knee injury.

24-11 now. Still second quarter. Some Big XII teams are licking their chops/planning on taking care of business methinks.

I was there. Great game, but Brady Leaf definitely was no Dennis Dixon. It is kind of sad that an injury might have led to the result of the game.

Anyone else get the feeling that even with all the drama and parody in college football this year were still gonna see some lame ass boring matchup in the BCS title game between two teams that wouldv'e been there on a normal year anyway? Damn, i'd love to see something like a Kansas vs West Virginia/Arizona State matchup, but I have this sinking feeling its still gonna be something along the lines of an Oklahoma vs LSU/Ohio State championship.

Totally Agree

LSU vs. Oklahoma is coming

Well, the Jayhawks have risen above the noise and confusion, just to get a glimpse beyond the illusion... they are soaring ever higher... but have they flown too high?

(Seriously, I think Kansas just might do it - just hoping that WVU doesn't jump them if they go unbeaten)
