2008 MLB Season

Sox acquired Paul Byrd from the Indians. Not a huge move in the grand scheme of things but he's been pitching well, and is a little added insurance considering Wakefield's injury.

If Charlie Zink pitches well in Wakefield's place tonight I'd be interested in seeing whether or not the Sox send Buchholz down because he really needs to go down and fix his mechanics.

The Cincinnati Reds have finally dealt Adam Dunn.

He goes to the Diamondbacks in exchange for a handful of prospects.

ESPN.com

But Adam Dunn doesn't even like baseball...

haha.

If this is AZ's answer for Manny, I offer my condolences to D-backs fans.

While Adam Dunn was well-liked here in Cincy, he was equally hated.

But I wish him the best of luck.

And the Reds might as well have open tryouts now.

Since losing O-dog for the year, this is pretty much going to balance things out. He is a proven player and with him we should have another good bat.

So in order for this deal to go through Dunn had to clear waivers, right? How in the hell did someone not grab him off of waivers, if only to hinder the D Backs chances?

D-Backs have the worst record of any contending team not named the Dodgers, and since acquiring Manny, the Dodgers already have a bit of a log jam in the OF. If the Dodgers would've claimed him and the Reds said "take him", it would've put the Dodgers in a spot they don't want to be in since they already seem to be against sitting Juan Pierre (god knows why).

Tigers take a flyer on Freddy Garcia. I kinda like the move, hopefully he regains his 2006-07 form. Doesn't really matter, though, if he's not getting run support or the bullpen blows. In other news, Dontrelle Willis is promoted to AAA Toledo.

Well, Texas has now made a game of it. 8 in the 5th inning. Sox still lead, though.

I saw, I came, I left.

Now 14-10...wow.

What the hell?! Is this Pats-Cowboys or Sox-Rangers?

I'm sure it's Sox-Rangers, unless the Red Sox were caught stealing signs...

EDIT: I see it's 14-13?

Don't tell me the Sox are about to blow that game. No freakin' way.

EDIT: They're now down by 2. That's outstanding. I mean really, how do you blow a 10-run lead? Did they just not pitch?!

It was said that a lot of teams put in claims for Dunn, but given that Arizona had the worst record they were "rewarded," with Dunn as their prize.

Also, one of the players to be named later for Dunn is Micah Owings.

Rumor is the other one may be catcher Wilkin Castillo.

Although Owings will be headed to Cincinnati it may not be until after this season, due to the fact that he has to clear waivers. If he doesn't clear waivers then he'll be placed on them again in a month.
