Hello all,

The Clinton LumberKings have just unveiled their logos for the 2009 Midwest League All Star Game. More can be read here:

The logo appears on the homepage in the image changer. I would just like to mention that I was the one who designed the logo. Together with the organization, I believe we created a very strong identity.

Personally, I find it rather underwhelming. It in no way strikes me as being any kind of special event logo, it just kind of sits there with a puny Lumberkings logo, two half-hidden stars, a de-emphasized league name...

It's not dynamic, it's just...there. Sorry to rain on your parade, but this, in my non-professional opinion, doesn't work.

My Grandparents used to live in Clinton, Iowa and I'd spend a few weeks with them every summer. One of the highlights of going there was going to Riverview Stadium with my Grandfather. It's a neat art deco ballpark built in the 1930's and I got my love of baseball there. I'm glad to see baseball in Clinton is still alive and well.

I like the idea of this logo, it just feels off. For one, it's much too wide. There's a lot of empty space that could be done away with if the arc were a bit tighter.

That's not going to look good at all as a patch, assuming they go with uniform patches. The guy in the middle just looks slapped on at the end, and the "All*Star Game" text should really be more prominent since this is supposed to be a special event logo.

I agree with the general sentiment here...the logo is far too wide, the outlines are too thin (and not at all uniform), the beveled star in "All-Star" is almost illegible (if it is beveled; I'm assuming so to make sense of the enormous beveled stars in the wheel, which doesn't make sense).

Way too many things trying to on at the same time here, which makes it a signifiantly difficult to use (and thus, not good at all).

I'll be looking back on this post in 2011 once we get familiar with the Dubuque LumberKings and Clinton has a successful Northwoods League team...

The LumberKings are community owned by shareholders, much like the Green Bay Packers. You're more likely to see your own Northwoods team, or the Dubuque Snappers.
