I don't understand all this love for USC and declaring them "best team in the country".

The Pac-10 wasn't as strong as it's been in years past. Half the conference had losing records, and two of those teams were absolutely terrible. The rest of their schedule included bowl-less Virginia, Notre Dame, and two Big Ten teams....not exactly Murderer's Row.

I know I am a fan but did you watch any of their games. Their team has a top player at every position. You could mistake them for an NFL team. Almost every starter is gonna go pro. The level of talent they have is unbelievable. It's Only gonna get better too. Their recruiting from all over the country now. The west coast is not the limit anymore. I think they have a kid from the Bronx on the team.

I saw a few of their games. But their competition wasn't the toughest around, and USC still managed to lose a game to a team that got handled by Utah and Penn State. Georgia has a history of churning out pro players (with possibly the best QB and RB entering this year's draft), but they're a 3-loss team. Assuming Ohio State loses tomorrow, USC will not have beaten a team in the final top-10. (I'm too lazy right now to look up the last rankings and all the bowl results.)

Fair enough. So how many teams are better than USC?

Right now, I'd say Texas, Florida, Oklahoma, and Utah.

I can't believe an SEC guy is giving the Big XII so much credit. You've seen the Big XII. Texas or Oklahoma would have at least three losses if they played in The SEC. Look at what Ole Miss did to mighty Texas Tech. As soon as one of these high flying Big XII teams gets hit in the mouth by a real defense they'll fold up the tents. Wait and see. The Big XII isn't even in the conversation when it comes to schools that could beat USC right now. :censored:, I'd take LSU over Texas right now.

Riiiight...and Florida would have 3 losses if it played in the Mountain West. After all, Utah manhandled Alabama and Wyoming beat the Vols at Tennessee so that proves it, at least according to your 'logic'.

It's all speculation until a playoff system is in place. Bowl games, with the exception of the championship game, are nothing more than meaningless exhibitions that prove absolutely nothing.

Being an OU fan, I hope they win and win big Thursday night, even if for no other reason than to shut you up. B)

Fixed your post.

The BCS Championship game is just another bowl like the Fiesta, Orange, Rose, and Sugar Bowls.

You are right that it's all speculation until there's a playoff system. Until then we get to enjoy Utah being the best team in the country this season.

Returned the favor and fixed your post. B)

1. This from the guy who was telling me I had no "facts" to back up my earlier argument that Florida was easily better than Oklahoma.

2. Tell you what. Since we have argued over this as often as we have why don't we make it interesting.

If the Sooners win I will use an Oklahoma signature and avatar for a week. You can pick them. I will add the final score and text under the sig stating that I wish I knew as much about college football as you do or something to that effect.

If Florida wins by 20 you have to use an Ohio State sig and avatar of my choice for a week. Your sig will have the final score and text admitting that I was right all along etc.

So is it a bet? :D

Wait, all the Sooners have to do is win but Florida has to win by 20? I'm not sure whether to be amused or offended...or both.

Sure, you're on, but the only fair way is for me to only take the 3 points Vegas is giving OU.

That is a very honorable thing you did there with the points. OK we're on. For what it's worth to you, my winning percentage in bets like this is about 20%. You're probably in pretty good shape.

If the Sooners win by 20+ you should have to post a YouTube clip of you marching around your house singing Boomer Sooner. :D

If the Sooners win by 20 I'll be too shocked to sing anything. :D But, if you want to sweeten the bet... If Oklahoma does win by 20 I will follow my week of a Sooners sig with a week sporting a Michigan sig right next to a Red Sox sig. If Florida wins by 20 you sport an Ohio State sig for a week followed by a week of sigs featuring Texas and The Atlanta Falcons.

In the pregame show The Buckeyes are an afterthought. I like being the underdog. It's much better going into this game with absolutely nothing to lose. It's not like the program's or conference's reputation can sink much lower. If we get smoked well everyone expected it.

What I want to know is how is it going to be explained away if we actually win this game? Better yet, is anyone around here even bothering to watch this game outside Ohio State and Texas fans?

EDIT: Well we just won the battle of the bands. Does that count for anything?

OSU has secured a moral victory....leads 3-0.

(Does that answer your question, at least until it's time for Gundam 00 on SciFi, infrared? :P )

I say we claim victory and go home right now. Cash the check and get the hell out of town. Oh, and that's three of us watching so far.

If texas loses this game to a down OSU team, I'll be absolutely convinced that Oklahoma is gonna get absolutely crushed. IMO Vegas giving the spread to Forida by only three is a huge steal.

Texas will be in a lot more trouble if Pryor ever figures out what that orange sign on the sidelines symbolizes.

That sack escape just now was ridiculous, though.

I think we've already seen an example of what is going to happen to Oklahoma. There's no doubt I'd love to win this game and claim redemption but let's get real. If Texas is having this much trouble with Ohio State and Ole Miss pounded the dog- :censored: out of Texas Tech, what do we think Florida is going to do to Oklahoma?

EDIT: 6-3 Bucks. Let's quit and go home.

I'm not making excuses but how many times have The Buckeyes shot themselves in the foot with dumb penalties?

That's exactly what I am saying. It's not like Ohio State is playing their asses off and doing everything right. Yet they have easily outplayed Texas in the first half. Granted, there's still a long way to go but if Ohio State can do this to a "quality" Big XII opponent, what makes anyone think Oklahoma stands a chance against Florida?
