The Saints will not stop Peyton Manning. Simple as that. Anyone who thinks Peyton won't drop huge numbers on that Saints defense with two weeks to prepare is fooling themselves. That being said, the Saints could very easily outscore Peyton Manning. Reggie Bush having a game like he did vs Arizona and discipline are vital for the Saints if they want to win. They looked extremely sloppy vs the Vikings in terms of the penalties they committed. If they do that vs the Colts it wont even be close. I think that Indy is going to win, but it'll be close.

BTW, when was the last time two #1 seeds played in the Super Bowl?

Here is why, in my mind at the moment, I think its a harder call than some of the posters here seem to think. The Saints actually held Favre to a not so fantastic game in the NFC Championship game (only 1 TD pass, and 2 interceptions. Yes 310 yards, but on 46 attempts). And that was with the Vikes having more of running threat than the Colts do. So I am not so sure that it is guaranteed that Manning will tear the Saints defense to pieces. And I think the Saints are a better offense than the Colts have faced lately. After a relatively easy run to the Superbowl and a couple of weeks rest at the end of the Season, can the Colts defense lift its level of intensity? I am not so sure about that.

What I think is clear is that the 2 best teams in the League have reached the Superbowl, and its a long time since it has been so clear that that has happened. (the Cowboys and Bills was the last time 2 number 1 seeds made the Superbowl, I think I am right in saying).

Keep it up guys, and please - no really, please - call in on sports radio and blog and e-mail and text and tweet and whatever else you want to do, and keep talking about how terrible the Saints' D is and how the Colts are going to win in a walk. I hope every 'expert' in the media harps on that very theme for the next two weeks, because when the Saints hear all that BS - as they did after the season-ending losing streak - they come out jacked up with an attitude and just ask the Cardinals what happens next.

Sure, the Championship win wasn't the prettiest, but the Saints were far from their best and still beat Minnesota. If they clean up the mistakes, the Colts may just get more than they can handle. And ask yourself, who has a better D? Vikes or Colts? The Saints will score some points.

So bring it on, boys! Tell everybody how the Saints don't stand a chance!

Hmm, well Peyton Manning just got through picking apart the Jets NUMBER 1 DEFENSE, and that includes his top weapon, Reggie Wayne, having been lost on Revis Island for almost all 60 minutes. So now, just imagine what Peyton will do to the Saints mediocre D with Reggie Wayne at his disposal!....

At least educate yourself before you come into this discussion. We all know Revis was the #1 corner in the league. Who was #2? Stat-wise, when he was healthy (and he is now), it's Saints DB Jabari Greer. He allowed 1 TD all season and that was a on a ridiculous offensive PI pushoff that wasn't called. So say goodbye to Mr. Wayne again. Plus, did you see what the Saints did to Warner and Favre? How did Manning play when the Steelers used him for a tackling dummy a few years back?

I think your view is very superficial. I'm not calling a Saints win. That would be foolish. But they have a chance. If you don't believe that, well, I'm sure you had the Patriots blowing out the Giants too, right?

Nowhere did I say the Saints are going to need a 2007 Giants miracle to overcome the Colts. If the game is a crazy 70+ point shootout, then New Orleans has a very decent shot at bringing the Lombardi Trophy back with them to the Big Easy. However, there is no way the Saints are going to win if Brees and the boys can't put a gob of points on the board because, like in almost all every game this season, the Colts will score, and will score often!

Bills-Cowboys, can't remember exactly which Superbowl, but came across that doing a touch of research for something else today.

I find it hard to believe there has been an occasion when the two teams that were so clearly the best 2 teams in the NFL that year have reached the Superbowl. (I grew up with football in the 80s and 90s, when a few NFC championship games might have had the 2 best teams in the NFL in them mind!)

I hope every 'expert' in the media harps on that very theme for the next two weeks, because when the Saints hear all that BS - as they did after the season-ending losing streak - they come out jacked up with an attitude and just ask the Cardinals what happens next.

I asked a Cardinal.

They lost.

BlueSky has a point then?

No.

If the Saints need to use people doubting them as motivation for the Super Bowl, they don't have a prayer in this game to begin with.

I did, actually. The last part just had to be said for BlueSky's sake, assuming he actually believes what he said. ^_^

Yeah, whatever. Obviously it would not be their only motivation, Einsteins. But if you think any team doesn't get a little extra motivation from hearing people talk them down, you're dreaming.

You guys hear the Colts' victory has apparently been rescinded? Well, it hasn't, but somebody making t-shirts for nflshop.com thinks so. Go to this link, then hit zoom on the t-shirt.

Thats actually hilarious!

I think Blue Sky is actually making a pretty decent point about the Saints motivation. I think all year they have been battling a bit against people's expectations, even when they were 13-0, I think that the mentality was 'Colts- well obviously they are good enough to be 13-0, but the Saints??' They seem to have such a tight knit environment as a team, that all the negative press they have got, just after winning the franchises first NFC title, must be a motivation. (A motivation, not the motivation!)
