Firefly Posted May 15, 2010 Share Posted May 15, 2010 I liked the idea that was floated a few years ago about it becoming an amusement park. That would take the sting out of looking across 610 and seeing the empty lot where Astroworld stood.I imagine the biggest expense would be to de-sticky the floors. It was bad the last time I saw the 'Stros there, it was awful when the last time I went to rodeo there. After the Katrina evacuation, it has to be like a glue trap. The stadium still cost them $4.5M/year to operate. $2 million in operation costs (insurance, maintenance, utilities and security) along with $925,000 in principal and $1,526,332 in interest on the $60M bond which was used in 1987 when they added suites and 10,000 seats.
