kbaker19
You have the wrong Sharpe up there. Shannon needs to be in the Hall way before his brother. I agree with the other 3. I would add Ray Guy, because he is the best punter ever and its a shame that no punter is in. Thanks Dolphins91 for the jersey avatars.
Titanscj2k
your right. i got the two mixed up. i meant Shannon Sharpe. tBBP
In regards to some of the names mentioned...- Curtis Martin currently stands fourth on the all-time rushing yards list. He better make it in. (For what its worth, Jerome Bettis is right behind him.)- To this point, it's a damn shame Ray Guy still isn't in. Quit shafting the kickers already, voters--get that guy in!- I don't know about Jon Randle. A case could be made for him, but I kinda see him and Robert Porcher in the same light--both very dominant for their own teams, but I think Randle might be more known for the KISS-themed eye black than for his on-field play. Again, this is just my own opinion.- Cris (by the way, no "h" there) Carter is definitely getting in someday. Numbers and durability aside, how hell could anyone argue with a player whose nickname is a complete sentence? "All he does is catch touchdowns." (And just my own personal homerific opinion...I'd throw a bone in the direction of Paul Gruber, one of the most durable offensive lineman who ever suited up. Of course, many people have no clue who he is since he spent all but about his last season or two suited up in creamsicle orange and white.) *Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. || dribbble || Behance ||

DDR
Ray Guy, sorry I just cant see a punter in the HOF.If you think field position is crucial in NFL games (and it absolutely is), then there's no reason to exclude punters because they're, well, punters. I know that this is pro football, and we're supposed to talk all butch and the like, but it doesn't make any sense to exclude specialists solely because they're specialists. If a guy is one of the best ever at his position, who cares what position that is? BBTV
I certainly understand the importance of punters, and can recognize a good punter from a bad one. I never saw Ray Guy play, but was the guy that much better than even the good punters that he is HOF worthy? I can't imagine one punter being so head-and-shoulders better than all of the others in the league that he belongs in the HOF. I don't have a problem with a punter in the HOF, but I just don't see how one can separate himself enough to deserve it.Kickers on the other hand are different. There are certainly HOF worthy kickers. No long snappers, please. Coupled with a crazy good defense, it allowed our offense to be at best mediocre and we still won 10 games. Punters are CRUCIAL to winning unless you just plan on turning the ball over on your own 40 every possession. 5th in NAT. TITLES | 2nd in CONF. There's a difference between being good, being great, and being HOF worthy. I just don't see how a punter can be so much better than his peers over an extended length of time that he is considered among the game's all-time elite. I just don't see how a punter can be so much better than his peers over an extended length of time that he is considered among the game's all-time elite. You rank this the same as you evaluate a quarterback - start with the stats, in context of his era.I expect that any specialists would face very strict scrutiny. And maybe that means not every position will be represented in the Hall. Which is a good thing - a Hall should be its nature be extremely exclusive. But if the Paper of Record makes an argument that a pure punter should be in the Hall, then it might be time to take notice.
