sportsfan9580
No pics yet, but the Saints look to be sporting a "2009 Super Bowl Champions" patch against the Vikings tonight. It's probably temporary, but anyone with further information or any pics could post here.
Matito
It looks pretty simple and subtle. I like it.The Vikings' 50th Anniversary patch, however, looks far too big.
Viper
Is this the first time the defending Super Bowl champs have worn a championship patch the following season? I don't seem to recall it happening before, and I've always been a bit surprised that more teams don't do this after winning a title.I figured it was because the league frowned on it, but since the Saints are doing it this year, that's obviously not the case. I am not sure if there was one worn for the past 3 season openers but they have been worn in the past
MJWalker45
Patriots and Colts both wore patches for their first home games of the season. Sadly that Saints patch is 8 million times better than last years Super Bowl logo. Â Â

Maybe teams only do it when it is a significant/first win?

I have a Brady jersey with that patch - and that was the first time it had been done.  Sodboy13 said: As you watch more basketball, you will learn to appreciate the difference between "defense" and "couldn't find the rim with a pair of bloodhounds and a Garmin." meet the new page, not the same as the old page. Legend
Any reason for wearing white at home?Doesn't look all that great. I wish more home teams would wear their dark jerseys.
Pharos04
i don't know if i'm looking for subtlety for subtlety's sake but i see the outline of the Superdome just behind the Fleur de leis but for some reason the gold part resembles the Alamo to me. Perhaps a subtle thank you to San Antonio for taking care of the team during a difficult time? Or am i just looking for things that don't exist? Facebook: CustomSportsCovers Twitter: CSCovers Quote No because when the Irish came to Ireland and first came in contact with the leprechaun people, they didn't take their land away and force them to move west. Instead, the two groups learned to assimilate peacefully. However, certain tribes of the leprechaun refused to taint the pure blood and moved north into the forests of Ireland, only to be seen rarely, usually at the same time of a rainbows appearance and occasionally at the factories of Lucky Charms. GeauxColonels
The Superdome outline is definitely intentional. I'm not so sure about the Alamo similarities. The team will not wear the patch again this season. As for the Saints wearing the white at home...Sean Payton prefers the white at home. But I also think that the team votes on the uniform combos. I know Brees says he prefers the white jerseys because he says he sees the receivers better.
