The Defense was still pretty weak (for a playoff team), Niemi was good in the playoffs, but he still isn't all that, and Marleau, Thornton, etc. are getting older and less effective. Vancouver was the better team, add the fact that the Sharks really didn't put out the greatest effort (like you said), and they didn't have a chance. A game tying goal with 14 seconds left as a result of an icing call that maybe should have been waved off. And now an OT goal that result from a deflection of a stanchion and all the Sharks losing track of the puck.I may have to steer clear of the HF Boards for awhile, LadyStanley will probably be on the warpath, and I might get banned just for putting U's in words.... I knew san jose was doomed during the second game by how physical Vancouver was. They were like bullies and took the Sharks lunch money without too much effort. Just like Chicago did last year. The problem is, Luongo was a machine tonight. The CBC was going on about how he hadn't stolen a game yet in the playoffs, well, he did it tonight. Hoping the B's can close it out tomorrow. ninersdd Posted May 25, 2011 Share Posted May 25, 2011 This was the one game in this series where I thought the Sharks were better and deserved to win over Vancouver.But looking back at the series heres what went wrong:Game 1: AWFUL 3rd period dooms them.Game 2: Subpar 2nd, embarrassing 3rd dooms them.Game 4: Special teams disaster buried them.Yes, the refs you can say cost us tonight, and they missed a couple of high sticks in earlier games. On the Sharks front, I have newfound respect for Thornton and Marleau, Thornton apparently has a separated shoulder and played tonight. Heatley was awful though. The Canucks were picked by most people at the start of the season and start of the playoffs to win it all and it looks like they could. The Canucks were the better team. Though it's remarkable considering how badly the Sharks outplayed them in the last two games, but a few horrible breaks can turned the series.I wouldn't break them up. They keep getting close, but keep running into teams that are always on a much bigger roll than they are. There has to be just one or two missing pieces to finally put them over.Oh well. Sorry Erik.
