Stupid anniversaries

I don't mind multiples of 10 being celebrated, but every multiple of 5 outside of 5, 25 and 75 go a bit overboard. Also I'm not that big of a fan of celebrating championship anniversaries

What about if the team was really, really good. For example, the 1972 Miami Dolphins, or the 1985 Chicago Bears. Or what about a great cinderella story like the 1969 New York Mets or Jets?

Eh, I'm fine with the team honoring a celebration for a game or series, just not a patch on the jersey the whole season

I'm surprised you didn't post this, -Dan:

:P

75 is an appropriate anniversary (albeit they were celebrating 75 years of a Detroit NHL franchise, not the Wings I know six of one, half dozen of the other)

I was surprised to see that they only wore the patch for less than a few games. Actually, the 75 with the wing logo on its own would have been sharp.

60 isn't a bad anniversary either, however this patch is horrid.

This one was kind of corny:

i think it should be 5, 10, 25, 50, 75, 100 (and every 25 years aftrer). also like anythinglogos said teams with numbers as there name the year of the team name (maybe the ottawa 67's would do something).

also i believe that the Carlton Blues will be 150 years old in 2014 and North Melbourne being the same in 2019.

so long and thanks for all the fish.

I think the worse is when a franchise counts both when it started as a team in general and when its tarted in the city.

Like the 76ers

02-03

then 6 years later in 08-09

Just choose one! and choose the 50h or 75th of it!

How did the team gain an extra 20 years in a 6 year span?

One counts tenure in Philly, the other counts franchise existence.

Yes that's a Roman numeral 4.

I had no idea there were that many 5th year patches. I think the Lightning have only done a patch for the 10th year. In my perfect world, teams would only do 10, 25, 50, 100.. etc but then have a special event night for 10th anniversary of a title win, opening of a building, that could have a one off patch.

Yea 5 year patches are not necessary.

On another note, I believe the Astros has a 45th anniversary patch a couple of years ago. But won't they just do another patch for the 50th too? Every 10 years should be fine until you get to the 75th
