Hathaway Browne
^ It is a new track. Of course the corners don't have names. But it seems that they just don't want to name things any more, even in Singapore they usually refer to them on TV by the number when they really should be calling them Raffles, Anderson, the Sling etc.I guess that CotA does have the Esses, but they could do with a few more names. At the very least from the features around the circuit. Any Farm's or Chapel's nearby?
rainmaker17
The Expo center (where the Rodeo is held) and the airport are nearby. That's about it, though I see that changing dramatically based on the apparent success this event is going to have.
rvrdgsfn
Ah, that was a great race. Well done Lewis. Now this is my favorite track (along with Silverstone, Suzuka, Monza). Vettel didn't win the championship yet and now it will go down to Sao Paulo. This has been an exciting season.
RedRenesis
That was a pretty fun race, Austin looks to have a good future in F1.
rvrdgsfn
From what Speed Center said, if Alonso wins & Seb finishes no worse than 4th, Seb wins the WDC.
raysox
Everyone I heard mentioned the track had great reviews. Even though it's just a bunch of elements from other tracks, they chose the good parts! But I'm glad this wasn't a Vettel run away, Hamilton had a fast car and showed up. Also Grosjean spun it, went to 22nd, and came back to finish 6th! I'm sure you all wanted to know that, ahah @MichaelDanger19 | Dribbble
Hathaway Browne
Well it took him 6 attempts but Tilke finally come up with the goods. I loved the track and the race was superb, certainly another highlight on the calendar now, and it felt like it belonged, not some location that had been created by public money just for the sake of having a race. There seemed a warmth in the atmosphere that was decidedly lacking in some of these newer locations. And I'll even forgive Pirelli for those Stetsons. 'spose it just had to be done. Look for Melbourne to hand out corked hats come March. Apparently Bernie is now pushing for a third race Stateside, hinting that the West Coast needs one as well. Circle up the wagons, #Cali-for-nia here we come#.
Hathaway Browne
Unconfirmed talk that HRT have been given redundancy notices as no buyer has been found. Sounds like they will go to Interlagos and 'close' once they chequered flag drops. Shame for all those involved, hopefully they can find work elsewhere on the grid. raysox
I've been watching some videos and HRT has some really nice looking liveries. Too bad no one gets to see them. @MichaelDanger19 | Dribbble
rvrdgsfn
Its sad to see a team go down, but things aren't looking good for HRT & if they do find an owner, I would expect a full change on everything.Meanwhile news & notes times...http://www.planetf1.com/driver/18227/8265147/Korean-GP-in-doubtEvery year since it was first held in 2010, organisers have recorded figures in the red and it appears that the financial situation may result in the race no longer being held.A seven-year contract to host the race at the Yeongam circuit was initially agreed, but with organisers reportedly failing to get the race-sanctioning fees reduced the pressure is taking its toll.SN: Here come Thailand thenhttp://www.planetf1.com/driver/18227/8265751/Force-India-set-for-50m-investment"We had a board meeting in India after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and the board has approved a £50 million capital investment programme for the team," he explained."We are going to invest heavily in new technology and give more tools to our design team to try and move further up the grid."SN: It makes me wonder if this is going to blow up in there faceIndy Car & Grand-AM/AMLShttp://auto-racing.speedtv.com/article/grand-am-agency-selected-to-develop-series-new-identity/Coincidentally, GRAND-AM and ALMS launched a contest Tuesday letting fans submit suggestions for the new series' name, with a grand prize drawing for a VIP trip to either the 51st Rolex 24 at Daytona or 61st Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.SN: I need to think of a good name for those wondering, www.namethefuture.comhttp://auto-racing.speedtv.com/article/indycar-belskus-confirmed-as-ceo-miles-to-lead-ims/For the first time in the 162-year history of Hulman & Company, someone outside of the immediate “family” will be calling the shots. As predicted two weeks ago on SPEED, Mark Miles was announced as the new CEO of the holding company that controls the Indianapolis 500 and IndyCar series. And, as expected, Jeff Belskus will continue to be Randy Bernard’s replacement as CEO of IndyCar in addition to remaining president and CEO of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation and president of Hulman & Company.SN: Please don't mess this up, you had one of the best seasons this year, don't screw up from here on in. Hathaway Browne
@Raysox - HRT's first livery was pretty poor, but their second "Your Ad Here" one wasn't too bad.@rvdgsfn - Thailand, well I'm still on the fence with that one.Interesting rumour here:http://joesaward.wor...xican-standoff/Mexico apparently has a "deal", possibly as a replacement for New Jersey. Supposedly backed by Carlos Slim's son, either work and upgrades to the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez or build a new circuit in Cancún.Makes sense to have one there, with Perez and Guiterrez on the gird next year. And also, new sponsor for Lotus.... Coca-Cola. The Enstone team will run with Burn branding in '13.http://burn.com/en_G...la1_racing.htmlThe Lotus team is the number one emerging challenger in the sport and has demonstrated exceptional creativity in their approach to Formula 1. We indeed to foster that creativity by incorporating art and music in a way that will break the conventions of traditional F1 sponsorship. Why do I worry that means an uggo livery next year? rvrdgsfn
I think Mexico is going to get a race, but I don't think it'll be in Mexico City. Uncle Bernie doesn't want it there...http://formula-one.s...nie-ecclestone/He also had some tongue-in-cheek comments about another race on the continent.“I’ve been asked this morning about – what’s that place next door, Mexico isn’t it? I said this is all you’ve got to build, and we’re in business.”Ecclestone confirmed that F1 would not return to the old Mexico City circuit: “Definitely not.”Cancun however, now that would be interesting to see that.I was shocked to see Coca-Cola get the sponsorship to Louts. Hopefully they'll keep the black & gold but if the whole, Lotus is done sponsoring thing come afloat again, then I guess they'll be called Burn Renault??? raysox
@HathawayYep, this oneAs for Burn, I wish Coca-Cola went with the ACTUAL SODA instead of Burn, because it's a global brand, and Red Bull has 2 teams in the field. Coke-Renault sounds a lot better I think! @MichaelDanger19 | Dribbble
Hathaway Browne
^Not quite the one I was thinking of. It was last years...http://www.grandprix.com/jpeg/misc/hrt2011images1-lg.jpgI'd be surprised if someone does buy them to be honest, they will probably become another Super Aguri. rvrdgsfn
Hamilton will start on pole in Brazil, Vettel is 4th, Alonso is 7th & will have some work to do, otherwise.... We'll be hearing this at the end of the race for the WDChttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFhxgzkpyKII don't like Red Bull, but this has to favor Vettel in so many ways. The kid is talented & the future of this sport... I just wish he wasn't driving for the bulls.
Hathaway Browne
Well Vettel also has the added advantage that Alonso seems to struggle to overtake. Look at Abu Dhabi '10 for one example.I'll be honest I'm sort of indifferent to Vettel and I don't really like Alonso, (so I guess I'd rather Seb win it) but I'm still getting into the hype for the last race. After Austin its got a high standard to meet.In terms of Red Bull, well I don't know, it is a bit of a case of throwing money at the team to get results. I still miss the teams origins as Stewart GP. Would have love to have seen the Racing Tartan take a title.
rvrdgsfn
Looks like Red Bull will get a new name so to speak....http://www.planetf1.com/driver/18227/8280737/Infiniti-sign-on-as-Red-Bull-title-sponsorThe reigning World Champions and Renault-owned Japanese automotive brand first teamed up in March 2011. However, the new deal is an extension of that and will see the F1 team officially known as 'Infiniti Red Bull Racing' from 2013.As part of the expanded partnership, Infiniti's involvement with the team will evolve from being purely commercial to a relationship that is more technologically focused,.I'm looking forward to the race but this will be an end for 3 things. Lewis with McLaren, HRT could possibly be gone & for us Yanks, its the last time we will have F1 on Speed as they switch to NBC Sports next year, at least we get Steve & Hobbs back along with Leigh, but I'm still gonna miss Bob Varsha. All in all, I'd say its been one of the best seasons so far. I can't wait for 2013 to see what happens next. Either way, after Sao Paulo, things will be interesting, hopefully this will be the last of the Platypus nose.Let's hope for an excellent race. Hathaway Browne
What a race. And we nearly did hear the German National anthem... but I'm so happy we heard God Save The Queen.
raysox
That race was nuts. Vettel found himself in 20th and worked his way up, Hulkenburg almost won it in his Force India swan song, Kimi went into the escape route and had to turn around. The rain had everyone scrambling. This was a pretty good season. @MichaelDanger19 | Dribbble
