Further, the Blackhawks were a team that was built legitimately. The Miami Heat were a collusion disaster that embodies everything that is wrong with the NBA. God that league sucks.

Nonsense. Collusion? How were the Heat not built "legitimately?"

Let's take this argument to the NBA boards, shall we...

Update, 1:10pm PST: Argument made on NBA boards.

The Coyotes' website is an absolute nightmare. Don't know the technical term for it, but they've got two different backgrounds/skins under what's finally displayed, which triples the loading time.

Speaking of the Coyotes' website, this is never a good sign. Not after 15+ years anyway....

How dare they educate their fans!

I think you see the problem here.

Ever think that those "Hockey 101" links could be geared towards kids and newer fans of hockey? It wouldn't shock me if half the league had similar links.

As the official webpage of a sports team, those that run the site have to assume that children and new fans are stumbling onto their sites and might want to learn something about the game or the team, etc.

Apologies if this was already on the thread, but I heard it on the Puck Podcast this morning and I figured if it had been brought up, it would've drawn a lot of comment.

Because Ryan O'Reilly played in the KHL after the CBA was signed, he would've had to clear waivers if he played for any team other than the Avalanche this season. So... if the Avalanche did not match the offer sheet, Calgary would've given the Avs a 1st and 3rd pick while likely getting nothing in return, because O'Reilly would've probably been claimed off of waivers. Craziness. The Flames say they wouldn't have had to put him on waivers, but admit that their interpretation differs from that of the league.

Well, the joke misfired.

"If the win the Cup this year I hope they do it at home...I already have the red jersey!"

I'm certain you meant white, since they clinched the Cup in Philadelphia.

I hope they win the Cup at home because I already have the red jersey and it will only cost a few bucks to put the patch on it as opposed to buying a new white one if they win on the road again.

Do you buy Wings jerseys when they win the Cup?

Going back to the Stephen A Smith thing, I think it's bigger than just him. This happened on Sportscenter, ESPN's "flagship" news show. It wasn't the scourge of sports journalism that is First Take. His debate opponent Skip Bayless wasn't out there to dump on hockey with him (Bayless may hate hockey more than SAS by the way). It was the show that's supposed to about reporting though we all know that ship sailed a long time ago.

ESPN can't just talk about the historical implications of the Blackhawks streak and educate viewers on what this means. It has to be compared to something completely different in a completely different sport. If this was happening during November they probably would've found a way to work Tim Tebow into the story. SAS was sent out by ESPN troll and here I am talking about it. Sarah Walsh used to work for an NHL team. She knows there's no ties anymore. So why doesn't she correct him? Because it wasn't in the script.

Stephen A. Smith trolled the NHL, but what really happened was the worldwide leader trolled the NHL. I gave up on the network three years ago and haven't missed it. I have even more reason to stay away.

So far as I can tell, it's not that prevalent throughout the league.

My point in all of this is that after 17 years the sports fanbase of the greater Phoenix area should have the basics of hockey down by now. We're at the point where kids should be growing up with the game too, so they shouldn't really need this. If anyone really needs this after 15+ years then it's really indicative of why they've been on the verge of relocation/league owned since 2009.

My cable provider could dump ESPN and there is a good chance that I wouldn't notice.

I went to about half the league's sites and found these teams also have 'dumbassed' fans......

Outside of MNF and a game that the Mets would be playing in or some other big baseball game (i.e. a Wild Card game, intriguing Sunday night affair, etc.), I literally haven't watched ESPN in about five years.

No one should ever watch anything on ESPN that isn't live sports

Your bill would be around $4-$5 cheaper.

the worst helmets design to me is the Jacksonville jaguars hamlets from 1995 to 2012 because you can't see the logo vary wall

Two straight 5-4 shoot out losses in Glendale for Anaheim.

Couldn't hold a damn lead for any length of time in either.

Better blow the Yotes out of the building on Wednesday in Anaheim.

Did Anaheim and Phoenix just play the exact same game today as they did on Saturday?

Didn't you know? It's a best-of-3 mini series in the 2013 Bettman Short-Season Playoffs.

But if someone DVRed the first two games and played them side to side, they're pretty much carbon copies.

but the NBA's regular season is a joke, because nothing really matters until the postseason

Yes, as we talk about a league where 8 seeds beat 1 seeds with regularity and teams can leapfrog five or six positions in the standings by taking a long time to lose.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
