The Vancouver Canucks have received American Hockey League approval to move their orphaned farm team to Utica in upper New York state.

A press conference is scheduled for noon Eastern time in Utica on Friday to announce the new agreement.

It's the Comets according to most Vancouver sportswags and a press release sent from the Mohawk Valley Garden

Actually the press conference was apparently about a half hour ago.

According to Elliotte Friedman, the Vancouver Canucks, who announced on Friday that their AHL team was moving to Utica, N.Y., originally had planned to put it in Seattle in KeyArena. Turns out, they were told "it was not available for hockey," reported Friedman.
