  1. Quite a complicated legacy left behind there.
  2. I mean, I think it already is. Easter is synonymous with spring, and so is the start of baseball. I don’t think the link to Easter itself would work because of the religious aspect of it (which I understand Christmas too, but that’s been mostly drowned by capitalism). I grew up about as Catholic as you can get and even I think that’s a bit weird. I think it would be a surprisingly tough sell.
  3. Lions and (I think) Broncos were mentioned as long ago as last off season. Texans has been in the works for even longer I think. Jets seemed to come out of nowhere. I’ve heard Seattle and Tennessee, but those claims seemed dubious at best. Titans I think even denied it.
  4. They do! And now they almost have too many starters, so they can shift Jordan Hicks back to the pen if need be. I give Farhan a lot of :censored: sometimes, but this was a very good off season for the Giants.
  5. They currently play in a stadium that feels like a planetarium dome with the house lights on. They would probably look even more washed out than the Chargers do playing under that plastic sun shade
  6. Snell to the Giants. 2 years, 31 per. Hell yes.
  7. I mean about the “original” shade of navy he’s talking about. I don’t think there was ever a switch, and they’ve used the darker navy the whole time. I wanna say the original specs when the franchise was first announced (with the white helmet sample) may have used a lighter blue, but I could just be imagining that.
  8. I don’t think that was ever a thing that happened? I could be wrong, and Nike may have made the switch, but I don’t remember that.
  9. I just realized they have a texture on the numbers like the Seahawks do. I don’t hate that as much as some of the more traditional leaning people do. It could just be perforation, though? Also, I almost scrolled past the leak because I thought it was just the Falcons road unis. Not a terrible thing, but a very similar look.
  10. I like it! The number font is a bit wonky, but I think they were trying to match their Texans wordmark font. I think it works. All the Texans really needed was a slight refresh of what they already have. This seems to be it, and I’m cool with it. I like the idea of changing the sleeve stripes to horns. Arizona State made their sleeve stripes a pitchfork on their final Nike set, and I always liked it. This has a very similar feel. Mostly, I’m just glad they still look like the Texans.
  11. I mean, I don’t think so. They just brought in CRAZY potential upside for almost nothing with both of their new QBs. Either this pays off handsomely for them, or it doesn’t but they took so little risk that it doesn’t much matter. Goddam Steelers. Every time.
  12. Yeah I remember that. I worked for a group that did apparel printing and stitching for the Seattle sports teams (One of the things I had a focus on was heat pressing the names and numbers on the Seattle Sounders game kits) around then and we produced two different types of Mariners player T’s. Just the regular old printed one, which for the Mariners with the silver and teal on a navy shirt looked AWESOME. But we also printed the same shirts where we tried to add coated layers that gave the numbers some depth and print that looked like the stitching around the numbers and letters. They were an absolute pain in the ass to create, took forever, cost a ton more to produce, and completely looked like :censored:.
  13. Tannehill’s best shot is to go to SF and sit behind Purdy. It’s one of the best offenses in the NFL and it gives him the best shot at success in the chance he does need to start some games.
  14. Drink it in, it always goes down smoothly.
  15. I’ve said before but it bears repeating. I LOVE being in a division with the Saints, Panthers, and Falcons.
  16. Yeah for some reason Chip decided to bring in a bruiser between the tackles and constantly tried to bump him to the outside. So I kind of don’t blame Murray for basically just quitting on Philly considering that setup. It makes even less sense when you remember they ditched Shady the season before (there was obvs more to that, but it was so much more of a better fit). I think ultimately this is a HUGE upgrade for Philly, IF he can stay healthy. That’s a huge if, though.
  17. Very strong Demarco Murray to the Eagles vibes with this one. Titans signed Tony Pollard for big money too, which is a bit of a head scratcher because if that’s the case why not just give Henry that money? Titans, man. I’ll take DH in Tampa for the right price, I guess
  18. Pittsburgh seems like the most logical landing spot for him. Pickett isn’t good enough to not give this a shot. Also, Steelers fans are the biggest fart sniffers in the NFL. Should cover up Russ’ own fart sniffing well enough.
  19. Giants won three times and went with three distinctly different gold jerseys. I’ve always thought that was cool. 2010: Classic Giants font 2012: SF on the left chest 2014: 70s/80s script Same cap, though (no patch for 2010, updated gold WS patch for 2012, full gold patch with the trophy on the back for 2014) all three times. I personally liked the 2010 jersey the best, and the 2012 cap the best.
  20. I think you can find a lot of parallels between these cities who have lost teams because they refuse to be held financially hostage by them. Ultimately it’s painful, but a worthy sacrifice. What unnerves me a bit is that most of the stadium situations in the Bay Area are good, other than the Sharks. They play in an old arena in a city that’s already made it pretty clear they’re not particularly interested in keeping them around if it means a certain level of public funding. Something is going to have to give with that arena sooner or later, then where are you? Who’s gonna blink first? Knowing these Bay Area cities and how they operate, it probably won’t be them. If you have an ownership group that has any sense, it’s sort of a moot point when push comes to shove. But if you have even an ounce of what they have going on up in Oakland? That’s how you end up with stupid like the Coyotes playing their fourth season in a parking lot while we’re gearing up for the first season of Salt Lake Sharks hockey.
  21. I once had a geriatric psycho yell at me that I was a “:censored:ing thief” because I was using light rail as a student, and apparently that meant I wasn’t paying as high of a tax rate as him (which is such goddamn bull:censored: it’s really hard to wrap your head around). Then when I told him to mind his own business, his frail little wife flipped out on me for “disrespecting my elders”. Phoenix is great. There are pretty much constant fights on Phoenix light rail because the handicap seats are all taken up by some lush who’s passed out and drooling. All that being said, it’s a great system. Cheap, too.
  22. Considering the heavy car influence from the behemoth to the west, I would probably put Phoenix in the second category, too.
  23. I’m a little surprised by this considering the NCAA’s antiquated stance on “going pro”.
  24. Ok, not sure we’re exactly on same page here. I’m not asking what companies have a branch presence in a particular city. I’m asking what kind of a corporate base your city has. What revenue is being created and generated specifically from that area? Of the four companies you named, only Vivant is Utah based. Delta is Atlanta, Adobe is San Jose, and Discover is, like, Chicago. It’s a pretty important part of all of this considering these teams are so heavily dependent on advertising dollars. The vast majority come from that local corporate base. If you want to know why people defend Oakland, there you go. The Bay Area is an absolute behemoth when it comes to their local corporate base. Salt Lake City? Yeah, not so much.
