It could really work in many cities. During the Middle Ages there were chivalric orders throughout Europe.

My favorite names for the cities you want to add to your league:

      Amsterdam: Millers

      Barcelona: Almogaraves

Brussels: Atoms (maybe Senators o  because is the headquarters of European Union)

Dublin: Druids (I think is very original)

Dusseldorf: Technos (in Spain the popular name for the electronical music is "Techno" but I don't know is the same in Germany)

      Frankfurt: Sorcerers

Glasgow: Liberators (For William Wallace) London: I suggest you 'Towers because it's the name I was going to use for the second London team that I discarded (or Bulldogs).

      Manchester: Machines (I like it)

      Munich: Brewers

      To be continued

Paris: Muskeeters. I really like that name.

Rome: Gladiators or maybe Rome Praetorians (the guard of emperator).

      Stockholm: Hammers

      Vienna

Zurich: Chronos (the time is very important to the swiss people).

Milan Snakes (The coat of arms of the Visconti, lords of the city for centuries shows a snake devouring a man. This representation passed to the emblem of Alfa Romeo that was founded in Milan)

  2. Nice Orlando Thunder helmet on the heading.

Definitely. I have a new WLAF concept series if you're interested.

      I’ll check it out!

Thank you. I could really use the feedback.

  3. Are you interested in USFL Fields?

Or how about WLAF/NFL Europe fields?

I will need to scower for some of the WLAF/NFL Euorpe fields. I believe I have a couple of Frankfurt Galaxy pics somewhere, ;-D

Here's a stripped down version of the Amsterdam Admirals' wordmark.

      24948336097_969db8dba9_o.jpg

On and off the endzones would have "Amsterdam" in the Democratica italic font with the capital A being the same as you see above. For week 8 of 1996, the "Amsterdam" text was orange with a navy stroke against the plain green grass. For week 10 of 1996, the end zone was colored in a blue lighter than what the Admirals used. The Admiral logo at the 50 yard line appears to have a Columbia blue stroke around the logo.

      neo_prankster

Even though this clip is really highlights for the Galaxy, I wanted to point out the Barcelona Dragons' endzones consisted most of the time of the city name in the same Charlemagne font as the Dragons' wordmark. Note the red and blue accents on the 50 yard line of the Dragons' field. On the Galaxy's field, notice how the colors of the "FRANKFURT" text on the endzones change with each home game. And one more thing about Frankfurt's field, the grounds crew at Waldstadion seemed to have painted the Galaxy logo with a smoother gradient technique instead of trying to do all those little square dots and stuff.

  4. Is the cap on your avatar a real team or a fantasy team? That logo looks pretty cool.

      Whittier S

I designed the cap, part of the Clink Club program that Brandiose used to run. Unfortunately, they selected my cap for production only a month before they shut the program down altogether. No one ever bought any--I would have received a commission if they had--so I own the only four in existence, as part of their purchase of my design.

      I'm very sorry.

It was a raw deal, I suppose, but I did get paid a modest amount, and I really needed the money at the time, so it worked out in the short term. It's just a shame I don't own the rights to it anymore so I can't do anything with it.

  5. Are you still working on that XFL thread on the Wolverine Studios forums?

I was curious about the scope of the customization options. And what I mean by that is if Draft Day Sports Pro Football would be the right game if I wanted to start with eight teams and expand manually like you probably did with your version of the XFL.

      BengalErnst

I am. I’m a high school football coach as well tho so I’m taking a small break from it but I’ll get back to it after Xmas. Currently I’m just going back and adjusting some of the logistics of the early stages of that league.

Willing to answer any questions you have of the game tho.

    2. neo_prankster

      neo_prankster

You're a high school coach???? Awesome!!!

As a coach, do you get to have any input on the team's uniforms? I mean, do you pick what color jersey or pants the team will wear each game or does someone else handle that?

    3. BengalErnst

      BengalErnst

I handle all of that and the nice thing is the team is set on getting brand new uniforms next year so I’ll be designing those after this Season as well

  6. Since the old Maddens only let you customize 32 teams, I'd suggest picking the IAAF teams you like the most and go with those.

    1. Bomba Tomba

      Bomba Tomba

      That's what I meant lol.

By any chance, do you still have your old logos as well?

    2. neo_prankster

      neo_prankster

I still might have a few of them. What's up?

    3. Bomba Tomba

      Bomba Tomba

I might make some of those teams too. I think I may have asked you before but that was probably 3 PCs ago

  7. How is your XFL rebuild coming along?

    1. BengalErnst

      BengalErnst

Switched simulators and am now going back and editing more story lines into it.

    2. BengalErnst

      BengalErnst

I’ll let you know when it’s a little further along so you can give it a read and give me your thoughts.

  8. I'm not sure if I want just Austus or Austus Football in the name of whatever league ends up being the first formed. Right now, I'm having a bit of difficulty trying to come up with a good acronym or league name.

    1. Bomba Tomba

      Bomba Tomba

I say just  go with Austus so that the public don't get overwhelmed with all the footballs (soccer and gridiron being the other two)

    2. neo_prankster

      neo_prankster

Here's what I have in mind...

National Austus League (NAL) (Pronunciation "Nail"?)

      United Austus League (UAL)

      American Austus League (AAL)

      Continental Austus League (CAL)

Elite Austus League (EAL) (Pronounced like "eel")

      Major Austus League (MAL) ("Maul"?)

      World Austus League (WAL) ("Wall?")

      International Austus League (IAL)

Professional (or Premier) Austus League (PAL)

      Professional Federation of Austus (PFA)

      Austus Circuit of America (ACA)

      National Austus Circuit (NAC) ("Knack"?)

      Professional Austus Circuit (PAC) ("Pack"?)

      Just got bored with it.

  10. Thanks for the follow on my Driveball series. Much appreciated!

  11. Something has been on my mind lately...

What do you think should be done to address player safety in football?

    1. Veras

      Veras

Sorry to wait so long to reply to this.  I was busy when I saw it the first time and forgot to come back to it, but it's an interesting question.  I love football, but I just had a son, and I honestly hope that he never plays, for exactly this reason.

But I don't have an answer.  I'm not an expert on the physics of football or sports medicine, but something has to happen, and it may be dramatic, more than just better helmets or stricter rules about defensive backs hitting high.  It could be something that totally revolutionizes the game, to the point that it's unrecognizable.  I'm sure that a lot of people would respond to any such change by saying that the game had been ruined.  I don't know, but don't forget, the forward pass was developed to enhance player safety, and ended up making the game much better.

  12. Just curious, but who is that character on your avatar?

    1. RightGuard

      RightGuard

      Homura Akemi from Madoka Magica

  13. I'm thinking of developing a fictional map like you did, but is it okay if I ask you for any tips?

  14. If you need help with WLAF fields, here's a full game if this helps:

Thanks neo. I plan to do the WLAF and NFL Europe eventually, after I finish the USFL

  15. What do you think of the Bengals' new uniforms?

    1. BengalErnst

      BengalErnst

I believe they’re an upgrade for the most part but I was a fan of the older ones. I think these are slick and I at least don’t hate them. I expected to hate them haha

  16. About those team names for my USFL series, I listed a few named you can vote on.

welcome what happened to that liberty basketball associocation

  18. Are you going to do any Project 32's for the NFL, NHL, NBA or MLS? The one you did for MLB was awesome!

    1. SFGiants58

      SFGiants58

      Thanks!

I doubt it. I'm in the middle of some big stuff in my personal life and I don't really have the interest in these other sports to keep going with a big, league-wide project. The Defunct Saga has been with me for about a year and a half now and I don't think I'm game for a full series after it. Maybe a few scattered concepts when I get an idea (a la OldSchoolVikings), but not a full series.

I did do an NBA: Project 32 about five years ago, if you want to find it.

  19. You need help coming up with names for your handball league?

  20. Are you going to bring back your AFL series?

  21. Did you get my PM's?

  22. If the Breakers are still in New Orleans by 2005, how will they and the Saints be able to deal with Hurricane Katrina?

  23. Anymore XFL concepts coming or are you stuck on names?

I can give you some names in a PM.
