  1. Selfishly, I'd like to see what a navy blue version of this jersey would look like as an alternate. (not mesh)
  2. I wonder if moving Army Navy to Week Zero and making it a conference game would work...
  3. As others has said, it will probably be orange and black. This was the Firebirds look in the 90s Even if it was red and blue, the Firebirds brand belongs in the AFL.
  4. Per local Tampa Bay sports radio, Rays are wearing the throwbacks today against Texas. Edit: The Rays have confirmed this officially as well
  5. She goes on the international leg of her tour the beginning of November, so maybe another month of possible seeing her at Chiefs games.
  6. The thought is that the traditional Army Navy game would be a nonconference matchup. I think the American would not schedule Army and Navy during the regular season, but like you said there's a chance Army Navy could play in the conference championship the week prior.
  7. South Florida going with an interesting choice for on the road against Navy (who I assume will have gold helmet and pants of their own)
  8. I like it too, just pair the existing helmet with some modern retro uniforms that evoke the throwbacks and you have a winner. I've also heard it called 'Cruise Ship logo" and "Toothpaste dolphin"
  9. Clemson may have found a way out, which means FSU may not be far behind.
  10. I can’t speak for the rest of the teams with increases, but the Rays did offer a select amount of $10 tickets (pre tax/fees) for all games. That may have assisted in the increase in attendance
  11. 2022 = https://www.espn.com/mlb/attendance/_/year/2022 2023 = https://www.espn.com/mlb/attendance I know some teams aren't done with their home schedule so numbers will be more accurate year over year in a week, but this should be a decent baseline. The top of the total attendance column doesn't change much. For those who have completed their season. - San Diego broke 3 million for 2023 and was just under 3 million in 2022. - Cincinnati broke 2 million in 2023, with a big increase of 642,540 total, just over 7900 per game - Tampa Bay had an overall total increase of 312,174, just over 3800 more per game. - Miami was up 255,332, just over 3100 more per game. - Pittsburgh was up 308,795, approx 3800 more per game. - Texas was up 521,681, over 6400 more per game. - Cubs up 158,369, over 1900 per game. - Houston up 363,349, almost 4500 per game. There were some drops so far - Washington dropped by just under 2000 a game or 160,569 total. - Dodgers down 24,329, about 300 per game.
  12. Kerkering played college ball at South Florida and I also saw him in Clearwater. He's good. As for calling up guys, Rays called up Shane McClanahan for his MLB debut in the 2020 ALDS.
  13. Some newer details that we've been speculating about here. https://frontofficesports.com/xfl-usfl-merger-could-drop-teams-change-league-name/
  14. I wouldn't be mad at it. It would break off football from the rest of the sports (similar to how I believe NCAA hockey might be handled) and you have 10 conferences. Pair up a Power 5 with a G5 and its might work. Pac & Mountain West SEC & Sun Belt ACC & American Big 12 & CUSA Big 10 & MAC
  15. I mean, I'm sure that was expected. Of the secondary teams New Jersey seems like the one that probably has a good chance of making the cut, being in the #1 media market. Who knows, we could see some relocations if the goal is to have 10-12 teams for 2024.
  16. Vegas and one of the Houston teams seem like easy cuts. Seattle could be a cut for only geography alone. After that I'd think Pittsburgh is possibly a cut unless they rebrand as Ohio. That gets you to 12.
  17. A move to the South Florida stadium wouldnt surprise me either. New Rays is said to be around 30k, and USF around 35k. While USF is bigger, the new Rays ballpark would be inclusive of another tourist destination in Pinellas County (St. Petersburg/Clearwater) so it sounds like a tossup.
  18. Let’s try keeping this thread to the logo discussion. If you want to discuss the reported merger, there’s a thread in the Sports In General section.
  19. Hard to say. I could see them maybe getting the Gasparilla Bowl, but the Reliaquest Bowl (formerly Outback Bowl) on New Years Day is probably firmly at Raymond James in Tampa.
  20. There was a new interior rendering from today. Looks like while the roof is solid, the vertical walls just below the roof are transparent, as well as the centerfield area. It was said on the broadcast of the press conference that those centerfield windows are movable to allow the outside in.
  21. https://www.mlb.com/rays/ballpark/historic-gas-plant The Rays have an official site with the new ballpark details
  22. Not sure, everything so far is just speculation. I do know that the University of Minnesota baseball team uses US Bank for their early season home games and I haven't heard of a glare issue there. It's possible part of the roof can be strategically shielded like the half of US Bank Stadium's roof is. I guess we'll find out more soon enough.
  23. Your opinion is valid. I just know that if Tampa Bay (and Miami for that matter) didn't have a roof, you would have an excessive amount of rain delays/postponements between June and September.
