  1. I remember that Snowbirds identity from an older thread, loved it then and love it now. Definitely the best of these options. Really hope to see a team in Boston in the future, I feel like Boston-specific football ideas are a rarity in fictional leagues like this. Gotta be biased towards my home city.
  2. I know it's gimmicky as hell, but I absolutely adore that set for the Patriots. Wish this matchup was Patriots in blue vs packers in white for color contrast reasons, would've been an absolute beauty, though what we got is nothing to sneeze at. Really hope the Patriots bring this set back as a throwback at some point. A perfect encapsulation of '90s uniform trends without going too over the top.
  3. 'Tis both a blessing and a curse. I can't count the number of times my family has stared at me like I'm crazy after I gasp at the TV and point out a player is wearing an outdated jersey template.
  4. four patches wouldn't look nearly as bad if they switched the SB57 and captain's patches, having both of the giant clunky patches on the same side just doesn't fit well in that space. look how close the Lamar Hunt patch is to the numbers.
  5. Even if it ended in heartbreak, still a helluva season for the Lions. They'll absolutely be back soon enough with all their young talent. Wishing them the best next near. Please, dear god almighty, let the 49ers beat the ever-living hell out of Kansas City.
  6. Chinook gets my vote, with Pathfinders as a close second.
  7. I'm not sure what's going on there, it's the same shade across the whole logo package on both the .png file and the Affinity file. Could be a monitor issue or optical illusion on your end. I'l absolutely consider it for a fauxback alternate, would be a fun addition. Glad you like the style! I've wanted to do something similar for a long time, this was the first version that actually came out well. I only make what I need, saves quite a bit of time. I often do full number sets whenever I'm making custom numbers, though. The Towers wordmark isn't custom, it's Crafter, a display typeface, but yes, many of my wordmarks are fully custom. It's always been fun to explore making my own type, often it's easier to make one than to scroll through hundreds of existing font options.
  8. Honestly, I feel like going from 3-13-1 to a game away from the Super Bowl in 2 seasons, without a QB or head coaching change, is one of the most impressive turnarounds I've ever seen. Maybe not greatest ever, but gotta be in the conversation. Should they make it to or win the Super Bowl, then yeah, it's one of the best ever.
  9. Hey would it be ok if I make a thread linking to a survey I'm doing for a university assignment? It's a project centered entirely around the current state of NFL uniforms and people's frustrations/opinions on them, I have to conduct a survey or do an interview to gather data, and couldn't think of a better place to get accurate data than this forum. It'd just be a simple surveymonkey link. I don't need many participants, but I don't know enough uniform nerds outside of here to conduct anything elsewhere. Just wanted to make sure, just in case. Hope it's alright with y'all.
  10. I used to absolutely love Tony Romo in the booth but over the last few years he's really gotten too cute with his attempts at comedy. Sometimes he still captures that 2017-19 magic but other times it's nauseating. I still think the insight he adds as a knowledgeable player is invaluable and he's absolutely a better color commentator than most, but I'm not as excited to hear him in the booth anymore. Greg Olson has all the excitement and insight that Romo has without any downsides. He and Kevin Burkhardt are an amazing duo in the booth, really hope Brady doesn't force them apart. Joe Buck has completed his redemption arc in my eyes, after decades of being the dryest commentator imaginable, he's turned it around and found a way to be exciting. Crazy what a little enthusiasm for the game does for the viewing experience.
  11. It’s already been a few months since the last substantial post, so here’s another batch of small updates. Miami Tropics Miami gets an updated logo, their first update in years. The concept remains the same as the previous version, but now features cleaned-up lifework, reduces empty space, and fits into the circular shape better. I’m in the process of updating the wordmarks and uniforms as well, but I’ve hit a bit of a rut. Hoping to get them finished sometime soon. Chicago Stars Chicago has undergone a bevy of small changes over the last few years, but I somehow managed to not post any of them. The badge logo has been cleaned up with better spacing, bolder coloring, and a more unique C mark. An additional badge, designed for use on the helmets, makes its debut, along with secondary logos: a standalone C/star mark and a badge featuring Chicago’s Municipal Device. The uniforms are mostly the same, with the twisty inline of the C logo appearing on the numbers and the secondary logo on the sleeves. San Antonio Longhorns I just updated their uniforms in November, but since then I decided to abandon the Wranglers moniker and roll with Longhorns, partially due to the similarity in pronunciation between Wranglers and the division rival Rangers. I recycled the wordmark and number font from a LongHorn Steakhouse redesign I made a few years ago, like I did with the logo. Might as well reuse my own work if it fits haha. I included a closeup of the jersey in case the details are hard to make out. Detroit Mechanics Detroit receives a fresh coat of paint for everything except the logo. The shades of cherry and chrome have been made bolder, the uniform striping is updated to reflect the racing stripes found on the hoods of sports cars like the Ford Mustang, and the wordmark is updated to have more of a retro automotive vibe. Jersey numbers are updated as well; varsity block numerals just didn’t fit anymore. A jersey closeup is included here as well. Lastly, I wanted to plug a recent project I posted on my Bēhance, a massive in-depth presentation of the Atlantic Division teams and how their brands have evolved since December 2021. I put way too much effort into a lot of team history, I don’t really care how realistic it is exactly, but it’s still fun to add details like this in order to make the league feel more alive. Would greatly appreciate if y’all took a look! https://www.behance.net/gallery/186935565/Atlantic-Division-Revisted That’s all I have for now. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  12. Ok, and? If that 16 seed is good enough to win when it matters most, they deserve their spot more than the 1 seed does.
  13. I wouldn't either, but I'd be equally unsurprised if the Bears decided to move from Fields, trade him for picks to a team like the Falcons, and draft Caleb Williams at #1. I'm not super sure Fields has done quite enough to prove he's more worthy than Caleb in the eyes of the Bears' front office, but after an atrocious start to the year I was impressed with how well he turned things around and ran the Bears' offense. I'm hoping he gets another shot elsewhere if they decide to move on from him. The Bears have a tough choice on their hands at QB. I'm mostly just hoping for the best possible scenario for my Pats here haha, I think their offense would be much better off with an actual star receiver than with a rookie QB like Caleb or Drake with no O-line or receivers to throw to. A generational talent at receiver can do more for a tepid offense with a bad QB than a generational talent QB can with no good wideouts, in my book.
  14. In coaching news, Jerod Mayo will succeed Bill Belichick as head coach in New England. Seems like this has been the plan for a while, but I'm not super confident that an in-house hire is the best move when the team is this talentless on offense. They'll need one hell of a GM hire in order to build this roster back up again. I'm crossing my fingers that they'll start such a rebuild by drafting Marvin Harrison Jr.
  15. If anybody is the NFC's Dolphins, it's the Cowboys. Only good team they've beaten is Lions, and that was by the skin of their teeth, with bad officiating to boot. The farthest they go is the NFC championship but I don't the think the Lions will lose to them a second time if they face each other in the Divisional round.
  16. Definitely the Surf or Suns, love the logo and inspiration for the latter but Surf feels like a much better fit for the city.
  17. The Falcons’ 1968-70 sets with the red helmets, black numbers, and sleeve stripes are my favorite uniforms the team has ever worn. I like other sets, like their 80’s looks with red primaries, but I don’t anything since then has been all that great. I’m indifferent to all of their black jersey/black helmet looks, I strongly dislike their 00’s piping look (though it was the best piping disaster of that era by a mile) and their current uniforms are passable in the right combos but bad overall. I absolutely adore that they’ve brought back the red helmets for their throwback alternates, and would love to see red helmets incorporated into their primary uniforms, but they should definitely be leaning more toward modern elements with their uniforms than a throwback vibe. Bold colors, sharp lines, and angular numbers make perfect sense for them, and match their logo. Their current set has the general feel right in this regard, but fails on the application. Something like this would better suit that modern feel without being nearly as gimmicky.
  18. Panthers look excellent in blue pants today. They should be their primary away pants, though should preferably be worn with black socks. Would prefer them against a team with better contrast, but I can't complain too much. Hope any uniform redesign for the panthers focuses on blue pants, would love to see how they look with their black jerseys and helmets.
  19. I’m absolutely loving these theoretical conferences, though I can’t help but notice that James Madison is in both the Ridge and the America East conferences right now haha. Regardless, the alignments are super fun and the brandings have been strong across the board. Looking forward to more in the future.
  20. That's fair. I'd absolutely prefer people elaborate on why they disagree rather than simply leaving a reaction, but I also think reactions are a fine tool for people who don't have the time or words to form a full rebuttal, and some of the emojis do a good job of portraying a specific kind of disagreement rather than simply communicating "i don't like this". I wouldn't say they are inherently without grace per se but a verbal response is ideal. My main point was that following up an ill-received post with the phrase “for all those who disliked” makes one seem insecure and needlessly confrontational. It’s just internet dislikes on a sports forum, it ain’t worth getting so defensive over. Everyone's free to disagree with everyone else, there's no need for people to take it so personally is all.
  21. Stripe weight is different, color balance is different, no chest wordmark or contrasting color, facemask is different. Sure at a glance it’s the same colored jersey and pants and helmet, but the color scheme and details are completely dissimilar when you look at them for more than two seconds. Besides, the Buccaneers’ throwbacks aren’t being used full-time anymore, so teams have every right to take on a template with some similarities to a throwback. I wouldn’t personally want the Broncos to go in that direction, but it’d be a fine look. If I were the Broncos and considering going with a white helmet full-time, I’d be far more worried about looking like Syracuse than anyone else, yknow, because they share a color scheme. This isn’t the gotcha you think it is. Perhaps handling people disliking your comments with a tad more grace would make your comparisons sound less outlandish.
  22. I'm a huge Brock Purdy apologist but anyone claiming he's the Most Valuable Player in the entire NFL is smoking something. He's not even the most valuable player on the 49ers offense; he's at best third after McCaffery and Deebo. I love his humility and at his best he's a damn good quarterback, but when he has performances like last night and leads his team to a three-game losing skid after losing his top two weapons, it seems pretty obvious that he simply isn't on the same level as other MVP candidates. I’m not super hyped for any specific candidate for MVP this year, as funny as it sounds. This year hasn’t had anyone set themselves apart from the pack like in previous years. I’d say that this year is easily the closest MVP race I’ve ever seen, but if I had to pick anyone, I’d probably go with Lamar. McCaffery, Tyreek, and Dak deserve consideration also, but Lamar takes the cake for me right now. Going to be interesting to see how the last few weeks shape the MVP race further.
  23. Apparently this logo package, team name, and a very similar uniform set were going to be released for Albany's Arena Football team on September 12, 2001. They nixed the idea due to 9/11. Would have really liked to see a bit more of a departure from the scrapped design in this concept considering everything but the jersey is identical, but it's still a fun what-if design.
  24. it's simply not a very strong rendering of a goats' head. It lacks expressiveness, depth, detail, emotion, and craftsmanship. Not a good logo at all. It's most frustrating to me because so many designers immediately saw it, thought "I can make a better version of this in 5 minutes" and then did. Fraser Davidson was among these, and his version would be a massive upgrade and feels like an NFL-caliber primary logo without being feeling too much like a generic "angry animal head" logo.
