  1. Not worthy of its own thread, but a neat article on the Packers' seamstress retiring. Cool anecdotes about things only we would love (presumably). https://www.packers.com/news/stories-from-the-packers-seamstress-marge-switzer-retires-after-27-years?campaign=email_220311
  2. Those 2-D logos are really jarring when used in conjunction with the 3-D playoff logo. The playoff logo ought to be 2-D.
  3. Do you understand how advertising works? I mean, if you are seriously making that statement, you don't. I'm not trying to bag on you, but this is a case where the focus of this particular part of the internet needs to look at the reality of the real world. The characteristic of the people here is that we would like our uniforms to be ad free. But to state that an ad would be ok if they're in team colors and small is out of line with reality, except if it happens by chance in terms of color (such as if IBM were to advertise on the Indianapolis Colts uniforms). As stated by Mike Florio, remember when everyone was outraged at sponsored stadium names? I'm not FOR ads, but this too shall pass.
  4. I don't see the outline as necessary. Other than that, I like what you did.
  5. I'm sorry. I thought Gruden sucked. Everything was 'this is a guy who's great'. Nothing was ever bad.
  6. Hey, I think every team ought to go public. I like that there's no SINGLE :censored: who owns the Packers (obvious joke set up - go for it - I don't own a share).
  7. Can't happen. A single person must own 30% or more of the team and have the res$ources to run the team.
  8. Understood, but it reads as though they didn't use steel reinforcement in the structure, i.e., it was build strictly of concrete (or as strictly of concrete as is possible).
  9. Let's give Joe his due. He completed 50.1% of his career passes for 173 TDs and 220 Ints. I get that I'm the same guy who said stats matter according to their timeframe, but those are ... something.
  10. One of the weak points in HOF arguments is picking the worst player who is in. Not picking on you with this, but it was a reminder that this also comes up in this type of discussion. I guess Namath gets in on the 'tough to tell the merger story without him', even though the merger was a done deal by the time of the poolside guarantee. He was a big part of the salary war, though. There's a book I really enjoy that talks about this sort of thing, along with cherry picking stats. Something along the lines of 'only Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, and Tony Oliva had 300+ HRs, 250+ 2Bs and batted at least .276' I'm making those numbers up - but when the case is made it trumps the guy on the outside, even though the numbers BY THEMSELVES mean nothing. And as is typical in these cases, if you bump one of those numbers, you lose the guy on the outside.
  11. Any time stats come up, I ought to mention that you need to compare the stats from the era in which they occur. A QB today has better numbers than Dan Fouts (for example)? Great, but teams pass more now than they used to. A running back is running for 1000 yards? Impressive, but given the number of game in the season, that isn't as impressive as Jim Taylor doing so in the 60s. On the other hand, running isn't as common now as then, so maybe there's a balance. Don't even get me started on receiving statistics. That's where things really are screwed up over time.
  12. Did you miss the full on tug of the facemask that Higgins did?
  13. According to anonymous sources by mouthpiece Schefter. Anonymous sources are BS in this case.
  14. Speculating on speculation. Kyle Murray removed references to the Cardinals on his social media and someone thought that might mean new uniforms. Easier pathway is that he isn't happy with the team.
  15. This is among the reasons why I dislike non glossy helmet finishes. The decals are glossy but the helmet isn't and it looks wrong to me.
  16. I'd say that is true of this entire thread. Some of us have forgotten some of these. All of us haven't forgotten all of these.
  17. I understand and don't disagree with the speculation, but has that been proven anywhere? Because on the flip side, a good TV draw has to draw beyond its own market. If the NHL isn't a good TV draw, then the markets are immaterial.
  18. Apropos of the Milwaukee city flag and a Nike 'city uniform' or whatever it's called. I'm not trying to defend the use of the color (because the Bucks ought to be green and red or rainbow green), but I am pointing out that I think your statement is incorrect regarding the 'fitness' of blue.
