  1. the 2031 date was based partially on their current lease. It could happen sooner. $1.3B privately funded arena in an area that really needs it. That stretch of market st is a dump, and even though they got rid of the “cash for gold” and knock-off electronics stores, it’s still a hole, and nobody has been able to figure out how to fix it. This would be one way, that’s for sure. Their waterfront plan was cool too, and honestly probably should have won the bidding (I forget the specifics) but I’m all on board with this. Granted, every white person in the suburbs is going to whine and complain about having to use mass transit, but screw ‘em. (this rendering may or may not represent the actual proposal).
  2. That's kinda how I thought it was too, and I vaguely recall this being the rule throughout the RBK era, so I wonder how the Eagles had different throwbacks (worn once each) in '07 and '10. Maybe they kept the '07 in the guide and just didn't wear it? But their black would have taken up the other slot, so there wouldn't have been any room for the kelly green. Basically my point it, can a team that's gone through more than two helmet colors in its history (including a leather look) go with a different throwback each year now, or are they "locked into" one for a while?
  3. Are throwbacks subject to the 5-year rule (helmets and jerseys)? Or is it like back in the mid 00s where the Eagles could pull off the yellow/blue throwbacks and then kelly green just a couple of years later?
  4. then there’s 28 fewer jerseys to sell. Hell, the only reason for the 1 player per tea, rule Anymore is so they can sell all star merch for each team.
  5. Why is there a MLB patch on that gray Nevada jersey?
  6. Also pretty sure Alaska can be yellow. Hawaii definitely becomes a battleground state between the two. Also, what happens when the B1G invades Canada? Southern Ontario should probably be blue.
  7. I hate it too, but I can separate my hate of having alternate helmets from my opinion of the individual designs. They don't need to exist, and I don't want them to exist, but they do, so they can be evaluated fairly just like everything else.
  8. I’m surprised by the way that was written, but I’ll give you that one. I suspect some intentional hyperbole, but that can’t be assumed based on how it was worded. Acknowledging the NFL poll as “fact” and the determiner of the all-time best uniform is a little out of character, and something I’d disagree with (not just the opinion of it being the best, but using that poll as “fact” and representative of everyone.) regardless, while I think it’s being viewed positively, I haven’t noticed the same level of gushing that you’re describing.
  9. I haven’t read that from anyone, let alone everyone.
  10. In 2023 the Eagles 2nd helmet will be Kelly green, so unless the stated rules were just BS (which they likely are), they won’t have a black lid after this one season.
  11. Oh, I didn’t know that. The blogs made it seem like it was basically recruiting. Yeah I guess it means nothing.
  12. From the little I saw last year, Harden kinda sucked, but this is still cool - I guess it's kinda like the Tom Brady plan? I have zero doubt that there's under-the-table deals or side deals going on, considering the Michael Rubin connection and now that Rubin isn't directly tied to the Sixers (yet organized a party in which Embiid, Harden, Maxey, and Donovan Mitchell (the only non-Sixer) attended with rappers. Hmmmm....
  13. My only complaint with the GUD is that it uses 11 for every jersey, which doesn't give you any sense of the actual font that the team wore. Given that number styles are so important on NFL jerseys, that can be a bit of a drag. I think 32 (or 23) is a pretty good number to give a good representation of a team's font. Even among block fonts, there's a lot of variation in the 2s (horizontal bar, diagonal, serif, etc) while the 3 is usually pretty representative of the rest of the numbers. 7s also have a lot of variances, but I think 32 is the best number to use to show what a team wore. That being said, I for a thread like this, I couldn't care less what numbers are used, as long as they're drawn accurately.
  14. There aren't 780 MLB-caliber players, let alone 832. I assume that quality of play doesn't have much of an impact on revenue, but it's really frustrating to watch a game where half the players aren't even good AAA players let alone MLB, and in some cases, are just AAAA players that are here today, gone tomorrow, then back in a month, etc. Obviously, there's always going to be a bell curve whether we're talking about calibrating 780 players or 700 so what is a "MLB-caliber player" is a moving target, but I really wish there was contraction rather than the inevitable expansion. For what it's worth, Phillies president Dave Dombrowski stepped away from the Nashville Stars project to join the Phillies but I'm pretty sure he's still involved in some capacity, and said he'd leave the Phillies if they somehow got a team, even though even if the decision was made today, it'd still be years before a pitch could be thrown there.
  15. Was wondering the same. It's been nearly 12 hours since the latest status. I think there should be a Yankee-specific thread, and you pick one - and only one - thread to post in. This one, or the Yankee version.
  16. For what it's worth, the Eagles regular white jersey was their designated "color rush" jersey, and was simply paired with the existing white pants. Their all-black alt was just an alt, while their primary white did double duty as color rush. Just pointing that out that if there's really a need to play within the rules, the Bengals could just say that their "color rush" is their regular white jersey. That being said, there really aren't going to be any rules, and the NCAAification of the NFL is upon us. Shouda limited it to throwback helmets only.
  17. I’ve been watching baseball since ‘85. Nick Castellanos is the worst supposedly-good baseball player I’ve ever seen, and an example of why a team should be very wary of signing guys that never played under any pressure or in any major markets. It’s one thing to just have bad luck, but the loser doesn’t even have competitive at-bats, and he’s even worse in the field than advertised. He really isn’t even a starting-caliber player on an average team, let alone one that’s contending for the playoffs. I’d hate to see what would have happened if he signed with a NY team.
  18. Not with tan pants. If they're able to bring back shiny-gold pants, or figure out how to do something even more outlandish, I"d be on board with that helmet for the 9ers.
  19. I didn't realize this but apparently, when he moved to Philadelphia, Castellanos bought Ben Simmons' house, which explains how he turned into a walking sack of crap seemingly overnight. There's petitions to get him to sell or at least move out of it.
  20. Big 12 new TV deal starts in 2024 - is that renegotiable? I'm not sure I see the benefit of an alliance vs a merger. Alliances can be broken very easily, carry very complicated money splits, and may not preserve the "power 5" status of either entity (not that power 5 is really a thing anymore - the best they can probably hope for is a power 4 - if they merge.) They could quibble over the name, but a Big Pac conference could maintain geographical divisions (sorta... sorry WVU) and call itself a super conference with one or two more additions (my math would put it at 16 if they brought in 6 Pac 10 schools, so maybe another two would be helpful.) Not sure how many good markets are still out there, so they may need to focus on the actual athletic contributions of the schools and just take the best deal they can get (assuming the contract can be renegotiated. If the contract is locked in stone, then I don't know the legality of any of this.)
  21. Oh I'm not a fan of pullovers either, just saying if they're trying to evoke memories of the blue era, that would be another way to make it more authentic since I don't think the blues ever existed as buttondowns.
  22. Just go all the way and make the blue one a pullover - just not one of the overly-baggy ones that Majestic seems to always make.
  23. I think the St. Louis script is really nice. The only change I'd make to the cream and blue jerseys is the elimination of the headspoon piping in favor of collar trim. With the script and the birds on bat, the piping is just a little too much. Also the blue jersey is supposed to be reminiscent of the '70s/'80s, and none of those jerseys had piping like that.
  24. So Zach Wilson banged his wack-job mom's best friend, and the internet is having a field day. https://clutchpoints.com/jets-rumors-nfl-fans-react-to-zach-wilson-reportedly-sleeping-with-moms-friend/
