  1. Watch yourselves... you might get talked about on BASS if you don't stop complaining.
  2. Just off the top of my head without any research: All Time Phillies Team of Players in Wrong Uniforms: C - Lance Parrish (Tigers) or Benito Santiago (Padres/Marlins) 1B - Pete Rose (Reds) 2B - Joe Morgan (Reds) 3B - Tony Perez (Reds) SS - Didi Gregorias (NYY) LF - Raul Ibanez (SEA) CF - Kenny Lofton (CLE) RF - Dale Murphy (Braves) SP - Pedro Martinez (BOS) SP - Roy Oswalt (HOU) SP - Cliff Lee (CLE) SP - Jim Kaat (MIN) SP - Fernando Valenzuela (LAD) RP - Bobby Thigpen (CHW) DH - Mike Sweeney (KC) I'm counting Roy Halladay and Curt Schilling as Phillies, but I know there's arguments to be had there.
  3. That's how I feel about Roy Halladay. His biggest moments and highlights were with the Phillies, and that's how many passive fans probably associate him, but he obviously became a star and played more years with Toronto, and that's probably technically his 'right' uniform.
  4. I guess we'll see if it was a compound fracture underneath his sock/tape/shoe, but there would need to be a visible bone for it to be in Theismann's ballpark.
  5. I actully like the top left the best - they could have built the brand around that. There's nothing wrong with the new ones, it's just that there's nothing really distinctive.
  6. spring 2021 NCAA football shouldn’t impact spring 2022 XFL football.
  7. He's 45 in that photo. He looks 70. We've discussed countless times how people used to age faster back in the day, probably due to drugs or just not taking care of themselves, but man he looks bad. Also looks like a clown in that clown hat they used to wear. Looks like he's going to play golf at the retirement community.
  8. Make the "WYOMING" a lot smaller, get rid of the Mickey Mouse patches and advertisement, and then make the helmet match the pants (either color), and that's a really nice football uniform. Where the hell is Wyoming again?
  9. I hardly watch hockey anymore, but even during the two playff games I watched this year, the Islanders goalie would sit on the puck after a lame-ass shot, and Jim Jackson would be like "oh my god, the Flyers just can't catch a break, the goalie is just standing on his head, it's unbelievable." That's a bit of an exaggeration, because they did acknoledge that their powerplay was "struggling" (even that was very generous), but I find him nauseating to listen to - and I hate him even more that he weaseled his way into a few innings of Phillies radio broadcasting, interrupting my favorite duo of all time (Scott Franzke and Larry Andersen... though LA only does like half the games now, and they've been auditioning douchebag ex players to try and take his place.) He's like the epitome of douchebag announcer, down to his manufactured 'catch phrase' "it's gone goodbye!" that I bet he spent years crafting. Screw you, Jim Jackson. Go to and burn in hell, you ing hole.
  10. Duh - yeah. I started watching their games on channel 57 back in 86-87 (the year rookie Ron Hextall won the Conn Smythe despite losing in 7 games) and Coatsie was along side Gene Hart. As a kid with no knowledge of hockey, Gene Hart is what got me hooked. I'm not sure I've ever heard a better broadcaster for any sport, and we've been #blessed to have had HOF broadcasters for everything. I was crushed when he moved to radio so Doc Emerick could take over, and thrilled when they canned Emerick and gave Hart his TV job back. The current Flyers announce team - at least Jim Jackson - have turned me off completely. I haven't heard any other teams' broadcasts, but I'd wager that the current Flyers team is close to the bottom. I'm not sure I've ever heard broadcasters act like the home team is the victim of bad officiating just about any time the arm goes up. It sucks, because other than JJ, Keith Jones is great, Coatsie is at least goofy, and Clement is a solid pro. Not sure if Al Morganti still does the studio show, but while dull, he's a pro too.
  11. I'm in my early 40s. In my lifetime, the Phila teams have only had (focusing only on TV): Eagles: 1 PBP guy (Merrill Reese) and for the past 22 years, only 1 color guy (Mike Quick.) Phillies: 2 PBP guys (Harry Kalas, Tom McCarthy) Sixers: 1 PBP guy (Mark Zumoff) for the past 22 years (I can't figure out who was before him) Flyers: 3 BPB guys (HOF Gene Hart, Doc Emerick (fired to bring back Hart), Jim "the referees are out to get us" Jackson for the past 26 years. That's remarkable continuity - especially Merrill Reese. Even the Flyers color guys and studio team haven't rotated too much, mostly being Al Morganti, Bill Clement, Keith Jones, Gary "pass me a beer" Dornhoeffer, and probably someone else I'm forgetting.
  12. They didn't take enough money away from the fire fighters and teachers to pay them?
  13. The best thing to do is to go out in a blaze of glory. Start a thread and go on an tirade, using every censored word you can think of. Hell - go around the stupid rated-G swear filter. It might be the first time anyone here had ever heard any of these words, considering this is a place for nuns and is better than every single other site on the internet, but let loose. I'd even work in a few racial slurs too. A popular one right now starts with "r", but there's other ones out there that get people's attention too. You won't have to worry about your account being deleted. It'll just "work itself out."
  14. In part due to things he and his wife have said about their time there, and that he's logoless on his HOF plaque out of deference to the Phillies. Also, while only two great years, he did have the perfect game and playoff no-hitter while with them, and got his true national exposure. It also probably helped that Bryce Harper turned down the number and pushed them to retire it. EDIT: He's a weird case. Obviously he had HOF cred with the Blue Jays, but he had his biggest moments while with the Phillies, and while he was only hear 4 seasons he "feels" like a Phillie (to a Phillie fan). There's countless great players that pass through and never really connect. Hell - there's great players that play their whole careers here and don't connect. There was something different about him that (I really hate saying this) you really need to have been here to 'get'. We claim half of him.
  15. Phillies retired Dick Allen's number 15 today, breaking their policy of only retiring numbers of HOFers (though he was likely to be elected by some committee this year if not for the covid). The "owner" actually wrote a 3+ page policy on what the new policy is, which basically amounts to "we'll do it if we want to." I can't tell exactly where this is. I'm assuming they'll have to repaint all the other walls since they do them in numerical order, and they had already planned for Haladay's 34 to go up this year. For reference, here's the other ones: If Rose ever gets in, they'll probably have to add it to Bunning's 14.
  16. Emphasis mine. This is absurd. It's fine for MiLB teams to have fun with their uniforms and have a few alts and special one-offs, but 9 jerseys and 7 caps is ridiculous by any measure. The uniforms don't even go together, with some with their Woo Sox brush-ish script, and some in the Tuscon-ish font. Just a joke.
  17. It's not a good comparison because you never hear "Khmer Rouge" without "Khmer". I had the opportunity to visit the S-21 prison, various camps, killing fields, and other grim sites that the Khmer Rouge operated. It's beyond horrific - right up there with Nazis. It's a shame that genocides are only taught in American schools if the victims are white.
  18. Gotcha. I don't think anyone ever associated their specific nickname with it, but without context do you agree that one could make that association? Another question - if you played for them, would you feel comfortable saying that you were "part of the clan" or "playing for the clan"? Asking because they said that their own athletes didn't like hearing the word all the time, but curious of your view.
  19. You don't associate Simon Fraser's nickname with it? Or you don't associate the word "clan" at all with it?
  20. But unmodified it does, no matter how much you pretend it doesn't. Yes, the spelling is different, but English is dumb and words can be spelled differently but said the same way. Now if you add a descriptor, like "Scottish clan", or something like that, and they're always used together, then it's completely fine. But whether you bleieve it to be true or not, "clan", "klan", "c(k)lansman", etc. are associated by most people with the KKK and racism. I'd be surprised if it wasn't associated 100% by minorities that may not know anything about Scottish clans.
  21. You could say the same about swastikas, but I think that any western team using one for a logo would have felt the need to change.

    MLB x NIKE, TAKE II

If you're going to outline the wordmark on the roads, you're essentially mimicking the late-40s look (which is fine), so I'd make the cap the same as their current alt cap (blue crown/red brim) and make the belt/socks blue.
  23. Yep that's it - SyPhi. Wonder whatever happened to him.
