I have yet to hear one single reason why BETTMAN is bad for the NHL.  Its all just blind hate for no reason.

Dude you can just as easily blame the NHLPA for all of those lockouts.

What don't you get about it being a two way street?   Its not like the NHLPA agreed to the cap and then the NHL refused.  Its not like the NHLPA agreed to 50/50 split then the NHL refused.

The NHLPA is the group that held out hoping for more and in turn caused the cancelled season and 2013 lockout.

Can you show me where the NHLPA comes into play?  Or are they blameless.

The NHLPA did its job.  MOD EDIT

Whalers to Carolina

Quebec to Colorado

Atlanta to Winnipeg

Winnipeg to Phoenix

Minnesota to Dallas

Minnesota and Winnipeg have teams again.  THANKS BETTMAN

Quebec very easily could have a team again soon.

So you are mad at Bettman for losing the Whalers?

Did their job by losing an entire seasons pay only to cave into the demands after the season was over.  I am glad I am not on union with you. We have very different measures of success.

Serious question, If someone ties you up and tells you they are going to chop off one of your hands, but will then let you go on about your business, do you let them or do you fight back?  I mean, you losing a hand is the inevitable outcome, right?  MOD EDIT

Because even if we are to assume that your MOD EDIT notion that the owners are pure saints and that it was the greedy, moneygrubbing players wanting to get the lion's share of payment for their work was correct, that still remains the fact that one of the jobs of the commissioner is to alleviate these concerns and help come to agreements with the players and the owners without any real embarrassment to all parties involved, and in this regard, MOD EDIT Saint Gary has failed not once, not twice, but three times.

Quebec will never get a team.  The league's actions in the last calendar year have hammered that point home.

And Winnipeg only happened because a billionaire who has a lot of buddies in Canada's media ownership threatened to turn the screws on the league.

I look at the standings, and I see the Sharks are still in second place in the Pacific. This brings me a momentary glimpse of Sharks-related joy, one I know will be crushed by the remainder of February, briefly resuscitated for March/April, and finally shoved into the wood chipper in the first round, probably by the Ducks (The Six will probably deny this, but then again, we both have a habit of underestimating our teams). I will then look forward to another offseason without rebuilding, wondering why this team doesn't go the Oilers/Sabres route of pure tanking to heal a gangrenous farm system. Comfortable numbness with Everclear as your companion is the fate of all Sharks fans. Well, that or hunting/eating raccoons.

This person would rather you didn't accumulate millions in the future.  Or get a replacement hand.

You fail to admit that any of the blame for either the last two lockouts falls onto the Players.

You can't see past your hatred of Bettman and the owners.

And yes it is pathetic when NHL fans boo the commissioner when the Stanley Cup is being presented.  Have some damn class and respect.

Hey look at that, a Flyers beat writer has nothing but good things to say about a TV deal with the Flyers' owners.

The fact remains, even if the TV deal is (sort of) working out NOW, it wasn't for much of the 2000s and even the early 2010s.  You know, right when the cable sports bubble was inflating.  That bubble's going to burst in a few years, and the NHL will have missed out on most of the money that could have been made off of that.

And the beat writer fails to mention that the owners are drawing up stupid, "unaffordable" contracts.  Again.  Praise Bettman!  We've lost what amounts to two whole seasons for nothing!

You mean Player's agent drawing up stupid "unaffordable" contracts.

Is it impossible for you to admit the players are equally at fault for the lost games?

Yes, as a matter of fact I think they do.  That's why we've had 3 lockouts and it's taken as a given by everyone who follows the league that there will be a 4th.  Of course, that's because most big business managers take the view that every dime spent paying employees is a dime that can't go to pure profit.

He's a convenient lightning rod, yes, and he has ultimately "won" all the labor battles.  It helps that your customer base is the sports equivalent of heroin addicts, though.
