the admiral 28,190 Posted September 22, 2015 Looks like crap but at least stockbrokers and trust fund babies can finally enjoy artisan nachos or something.
Sport 13,698 Posted September 22, 2015 No reason to build an arena in New York that can properly host every sort of sport/concert event. No reason at all.
sportstar1212 447 Posted September 22, 2015 I think they initially planned for the arena to be hockey compatible, but the project was going way over budget and so they had to make a bunch of cuts. I could be wrong, but that's what I remember reading somewhere.
teddthebucfan 246 Posted September 22, 2015 First look at the Islanders ice as full-time Brooklyn residentsGood lord. How many years are they stuck under contract to play at this place before they can leave?
mcj882000 1,036 Posted September 22, 2015 It's a couple of decades I think, but we've seen how sturdy these leases can be if the team really really wants out... IMO they'll be back at the Coliseum in 5 years, which oh look, that's when it's renovations are supposed to finish!

the admiral 28,190 Posted September 22, 2015 Yeah, they also downgraded the design from another one of Frank Gehry's geometric monstrosities down to a spaceship made of rust.

2001mark 1,204 Posted September 23, 2015 Is this still the NHL thread for '15/'16? 3 on 3 OT has been fun, it's even more fun when they mandate it no matter what the score is for experimentation.
Sport 13,698 Posted September 23, 2015 Rats! I was gonna suggest "2015-2016 NHL Anti-Golf Thread" as the NHL season thread title.
Sport 13,698 Posted September 23, 2015 The NHL scheduled a Blue Jackets-Blues split squad scrimmage tonight against each other. One group played the Blues in St. Louis and the other group played the other Blues in Columbus at virtually the same time. It wasn't annoying to follow along on twitter at all.
Alex Houston 341 Posted September 23, 2015 I happened to catch the final moments of Flyers/Rags and noticed they were using a slightly different version of a Skycam during the action. It was a little weird at first, but I wonder if other Comcast markets are going to use the same technology. The main difference from what I could tell to the others was mainly the movements being more lateral based, rather than front to back or up and down.
CS85 10,443 Posted September 23, 2015 In Kane news, it appears there will be a press conference tomorrow where his attorney will declare their intention for this case to go to trial. Kane apparently wants to prove his innocence in the courtroom.

It was a little too weird for me but the commentators were saying how it was somewhat like a video game. I agree.

Thread reservations go by fast around here! We're getting to the point of having Admiral name every thread, which depending on what butters your bread, can be a good or bad thing."Seriously, another two threads about gumdrops? The hell is this site coming to?"I happened to catch the final moments of Flyers/Rags and noticed they were using a slightly different version of a Skycam during the action. I'm surprised they would differentiate that drastically from the traditional camera well shots, though I suppose you can use the preseason to try out all the experimental stuff without committing to it during the regular season.
