In this video Raffi Torres broke his stick in half and in a precise, deliberate motion repeatedly stabbed Nick Bonino in the cheek, eye socket, and throat with the sharp, splintered remnants of his fiberglass hockey stick.

After Bonino collapsed to the ice in a bloody heap, Torres removed his skate, stoved in Bonino's skull, and urinated into his now fractured brainpan.

Due to the violence of this event and the repeat history in his career, the NHL is suspending Torres 20 games.

Reduced to 8 on appeal.

What a damn joke. I thought we were supposed to be getting rid of this amateur hour crap once we left NCVMC. We'll give the team a garbage 3d because you know Brooklyn and we need to expand the fan base but we'll put them on the radio so that the fan base can't hear them. The decision making over in the executive suite at Barclay's is just mindblowing.

Only a team like the Sharks would sign a player like him in the first place.

Why bother with the long suspension? He'll just injure someone again, as soon as he comes back regardless of the length of his punishment.

My thoughts exactly. He's a scumbag who's proven time and time again that he's not going to change his ways. The Sharks need to get rid of his ass.

If Stevens was still playing today, he would be regularly suspended because of late hits to the head.

No, he's just having a seizure in a ditch, probably from all the elbows he took to the head.

:therock: Scotty dealt the shoulders and elbows, rarely smelt them himself.

It was the end of hockey when he retired, final blow came when the league ditched whites at home !

When Raffi Torres actually wanted to play hockey he wasn't a bad hockey player. He was a part of the Oilers and Canucks runs to game 7 of the finals.

Apparently he is a world class idiot, though.

Pretty sure Scott Stevens retired due to years of head trauma and not his desire to start a new career in, like, I dunno, making oil paintings of geese.

I'm not sure I agree with people saying "Well Torres was a good player when he wanted to", because it doesn't matter. He's too far past that point and nobody will remember him for his occasional scoring touch.

By all accounts John Wilkes Booth was a good actor when he wanted to, but nobody remembers him for that.
