The city has had enough of the owners s***, and the fans have been driven off by the sandbagging. But if the A's ownership had actually been willing to spend their own money on a new stadium and hadn't treated the city like crap, then staying in Oakland would have been a far better option than relocation. The market size and one of the best public transportation systems in the US, along with a Ballpark that isn't a haven for possums and doesn't overflow with pisswater would have been good reasons to stay in Oakland.

Surely you can see the difference between thinking that moving to Vegas, which has a some problems, both presently, and in future in terms of question marks for long term sustainable of (likely) 4 pro teams, is bad, without thinking the team should stay in Oakland. Ideally they would've, as they've been the most successful there and had a good fanbase despite the cheapness, but ultimately it didn't work out, and they'll need to move, but that doesn't make Vegas the right choice, or if you think Vegas is a bad choice that doesn't mean you think staying is. That's just silly. The Giants don't play in a dilapidated dual use Football/Baseball stadium with a tarp capped monstrosity that San Francisco is still in the hole for blocking a scenic view, nor are the owners of the Giants about to oversee a second consecutive 100 loss season. DrAwesomeberry
I live in the area we're talking about. Other people that live here like the Knights and are largely still fans of whatever NFL team they liked prior to the Raiders move. In my opinion, if they get the state assembly to pull their pants down for a ballpark like they did for Allegiant Stadium, it's gonna look like the Miami Marlins with a few more drunken tourists very quickly. 81 major league priced home games mostly occurring during the time of year where you just want to go from air-conditioned work to air-conditioned home isn't gonna work, even if it's a dome. Displacing the minor league team and hiking up ticket prices for your 100+ loss roster because you've burnt every bridge and alienated every fan in your current home market isn't gonna win a lot of hearts and minds on top of that. (Also the RSN for the Knights is being liquidated by WBD, so good luck getting any regional TV money, even if they throw Utah into your region)

BBTV
Read in the Jeff Passan article that they're committed to keeping the A's name. Unknown is Vegas vs Las Vegas and any color/logo changes, but they have a couple of years to figure that out. I kinda just want to see the band-aid ripped off and get them out of Oakland as soon as that lease is up, even if we have a Tennessee Oilers situation. Sounds like a 1 or 2 year extension till 25 or 26 is on the table, but I'd rather them become the LVA's ASAP. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility, even if less likely, that they could come to a mutual agreement with Oakland to end the lease after this season and they begin playing at Las Vegas Ballpark next year. Although I think they'd at least want a concrete stadium plan in the works before they move. Quote https://dribbble.com/MakaioCall
