Between Bruce getting ratted out by his own longtime assistant, that one assistant blew the whistle (and got the interim job) while another is voicing support for Bruce on Instagram, why Bruce would get an extension but none of this lieutenants would, the fact that "certain" allegations were confirmed by the investigation (suggesting others were not), and the still total lack of info as to what the actual allegations were, the suggestions of an Arena vs Onalfo power struggle... I have even more questions at this point.

Latest on Arena-gate. Revs playeres are refusing to train and two of the assistants got in fights with the new interim guy. This continues to spiral!

Quote

Later on Tuesday, Revolution interim sporting director Curt Onalfo met with a number of senior Revolution players to further discuss concerns surrounding Williams’ continuing leadership of the club. Onalfo, said multiple sources briefed on that meeting, advocated for Williams but also told players that their input would be key in determining Williams’ future. One source on Tuesday said that a decision on a potential coaching change could be made as early as this week. The Revolution are set to face the Colorado Rapids this Saturday.

“Not many guys trust Richie leading the team right now,” one Revolution player told The Athletic.

The locker room has been fractured over the investigation into Arena. Several members of the coaching staff, including assistants Joseph and Van den Bergh, have publicly expressed their support for Arena. Neither are under contract for the 2024 season and, according to sources within the club, neither are expected to return after this season ends. Williams and Joseph, sources said, have clashed repeatedly, with the two having to be physically separated on one occasion last season.

And we have further updates. The Revs are on the interim to the interim. Another longtime assistant and club legend are out. Previous interim/presumed snitch of the whole situation is ????

And we still have no clue what Old Brucie said to kick off this entire fiasco. At least Couva was just on the field!

Can you imagine if something like this happened in the NBA or NFL?

What's going on with the Revs is wild and it's almost completely invisible.

Its one thing for something like this to happen when a team is at the bottom and not playing well, and people will be like "oh its just the team continuing to implode, like they have all season". But this is a team who is having a really good season, and is in a fight for the top of the table in the East and for the Supporters Shield, yet crickets.

The signs increasingly point to there being a toxic work environment/workplace harassment case, it seems like. At least that would explain the apparent schisms and the need for extreme silence even by MLS/Fortress Foxboro standards. If they legally can't explain anything without outing a victim(s). A lot of people were mad at the Celtics over the Udoka situation and the relative silence but that seemed, to me, like they handled it exponentially better than this.

Apparently the less than 10 years old PayPal Park in San Jose is already out of date according to owner John Fisher, who is trying to move his Oakland Athletics to Las Vegas. Las Vegas has been on the MLS radar. Could Fisher bring the Earthquakes to Las Vegas too?

0% chance he uses his own money to invest in renovations, which is on par for him.   Also, the MLS will want to keep the Bay Area, so they would block a move to Las Vegas, so he may end up getting the same treatment the frat boy in Austin got (a new expansion team in the city of his choosing while a group buys and keeps the Earthquakes).

MLS didnt mind abandoning the Bay Area when the Quakes went to Houston. Of course now they have a stadium in the Bay Area, however apparently it's already out of date so who knows.

With a guarantee the Quakes would return.  Not sure they want to abandon the Bay Area this time around.

Also, it's quite obvious that Fisher doesn't want to renovate the stadium, as plenty of older MLS stadiums have had renovations

If that stadium was a bit older I could see them getting the Chicago or Columbus or even Chivas/LAFC treatment to a stadium that's better located and a soft (or even full) relaunch. The Bay really ought to be a top market for the league, there is simply too much cultural and monetary capital sitting there, and the Quakes have underperformed wildly both on and off the pitch for a decade or more. That said, it's brazen and a gross precedent, made worse by the league's San Jose history.
