Was there a stated reason behind having two games compete against each other on MNF?  On the surface it doesn't seem to make much sense.

The NFL pits 10 games against each other on Sunday afternoons...

There's no real choice there, but MNF has traditionally been a national game.  Monday hasn't been a "regular" night of football, other than the silly opening-Monday things they've done the past few years, which I also think are dumb.

Plus on Sunday, you don't have a network family competing against itself like now with ABC and ESPN broadcasting the games.

I personally hate when my team is on MNF (like they will be next week... right after being on TNF) and now there's 2x the chances of that happening.  I imagine most people on the east time zone who work a "9-5" hate their team on MNF.

Deshaun Watson sucks. I'd never wish an injury on anyone, but I will say that the wrong Brown blew out his knee tonight.

I wouldn't wish injury, but he's not helping my blood pressure with stupid decisions like grabbing someone's facemask.

Very surprising that he has such an issue keeping his hands to himself. Seems so out of character for him.

It's not a-cute to be willfully obtuse.

I figure running games on ABC and ESPN at the same time is just a continuation of the NFL's tendency toward too much of everything, like Sunday quadrupleheaders, 17th games, and Thursday games all year. I don't like it because yeah, I don't need two games to flip between on Monday night. It devalues something the NFL has gotten right, which is Monday Night Football creeping its way back to ABC. That should be a really big deal. Why compete against yourself?

Would hate to see Watson lose a finger getting mixed up with a facemask (ala Ronnie Lott).  A missing digit might remind him next time he tries to touch a massage therapist against their will.

This game is fun as hell.

NFL has been :censored:ting horseshoes lately. We’ve had quite a few excellent prime time games so far already. I’d say the league has the Midas touch, but there’s no way I’m giving them that much credit.

:censored: it. I hope Watson blows out both his knees walking to the bus after the game. Only an idiot would think this guy is a major upgrade from Baker Mayfield. Baker is every bit as capable of screwing up a game as Watson is.  An added bonus is  I wouldn't feel like I need a shower after watching Baker snap defeat from the jaws of victory.

$280 million for this guy. :censored: off.

I've enjoyed having two MNF games and wouldn't mind seeing become a permanent thing on the NFL schedule. Perhaps a later start time for the second game. But to have two options and 4+ hours of football on Monday evenings is a win for us fans.

Agreed. It's an easy fix - one east coast game and one west coast game.

The week 1 Monday doubleheader was fun because you'd get an obligatory Raiders game and some weird cobbled-together broadcast team for some novel background noise, but those weren't concurrent games. Why not give people an alternative to Sunday nights, too?
