who do you think
Porzingis might be cooked due to some injury that no one's ever heard of before. But even if so the Mavs now have to win 4 out of 5, and there have been ample occasions this season when the Celtics have been without Porzingis and rolled anyway. Oh sorry I didn't realize we were in the middle of a "how does this affect the Lakers" and "did you know these two shut-in twxtter reporter weirdos really hate each other" crossover episode.

Hurley declined the Lakers a month ago. They heard he was in contract negotiations with UConn so they gave it a hail Mary. He said no again. Why this is interesting is because Woj sat on this for a month. So he knew Hurley had spoken with and declined the Lakers, but only went forward with a story after Shams had been hot on Redick and after he essentially knew what had happened. Woj has been angry with LeBron for forever due to not having any access with his camp, and I'm sure the animus carries to the Lakers by extension. But ultimately, the more interesting story here is less about college coach stays in college, and more about selective leaking and the motivations behind it. Did he somehow anticipate that the Lakers would circle around and give it another shot? And how does being turned down now look more like a gotcha on the Lakers than being turned down a month ago? SFGiants58
Boston has tried to gentleman’s sweep teams several times this playoffs, but just can’t overcome other teams failing to measure up to their standard. Bizarre is one way to put it. It feels very Jann Wenner, if that makes sense. Not exactly, he won a few against the Celtics those first couple of years with the Nets, at least when he wasn't too busy being injured or refusing to be vaccinated. This included that 4-1 playoff win that the Nets had over the Celtics, which ended with Kyrie's dramatic stomp of the Celtics court logo... and it's been 0-13 since. Digby
For all the talk about the Mavs having the top two star players of the series, maybe we didn't give enough credit to defensive stats (also that the Celtics then had 3-8 of that list, but I digress). Tatum and Brown are plus defenders, Kyrie and Luka are...not so much. After so many years of the Celtics lacking poise in big moments, sure looks like they've turned that corner. Maybe Luka will learn something about that after tonight. Also I thought maybe Kidd had turned a corner as coach from his years of attempted coups and cheeky soda spills, but if the best he can do is bad pressers and wasted challenges, well. who do you think
The only explanation I can think of for that is Wyc Grousbeck ordered them to throw the game so he could get another Finals game at home and all the revenue that comes with it. One of the few interesting anecdotes from Prime Time to Hang Time (or whatever it was called) was that Jerry Buss was supposedly pissed at Pat Riley one year for winning the Finals too quickly instead of bringing the series back to the Forum, costing him money.
