GDAWG
This is the first Olympics (and maybe the last) for one Stephen Curry. He was in the pool for 2016 but withdrew due to injuries.

Funny you bring him up. My cousin just happened to be right next to him for a group selfie.

Berlin Wall
The Basketball tournament will be competitive this year. I don't see Team USA going through easily. Quote I'm a simple person, I have a pixelated David Beckham as profile photo since 2010.
B-Rich
Riding the TGV from Paris to Marseille right now; daughter #1 and I will be attending the USA women's soccer match vs. Germany there tomorrow night. We were within walking distance of the beginning of the river parade for the opening ceremonies last night; we saw that area yesterday. But (1) it was way secure and ticketed (expensive), you couldn't just walk up, and (2) it was RAINING. So, like everyone else, we watched it on TV--- in French. 5 Quote It is what it is. The men probably not but everyone is expecting the USA Women to cruise through to another gold. The only reason they lost against the WNBA All Stars is because the WNBA All Stars are full of players who were passed up by Team USA such as Nneka Ogwumike, Dewanna Bonner, Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese and the game's MVP Arike Ogunbowale. And the Women's team will have even more depth in LA 2028 even if there's significant roster turnover by then, which there will be.
WJMorris3
Apparently the Italian flag bearer lost his wedding ring when he was participating in Friday's Opening Ceremony, which is kind of in Seine if you ask me! He's profusely apologized to his wife.

TrueYankee26
South Sudan aren't playing around they almost beat Team USA and just vanquished Team Puerto Rico by double digits 24 minutes ago, GDAWG said: The experts are saying that the USA Men's Basketball Team will have a bunch of close games but win the gold while they predict a blowout in every game the USA Women play Probably because USA women are head and shoulders better than anyone on the field and that is without Caitlin lol. As for the men, the world keeps getting better in hoops (there has not been an American NBA MVP since 2018) and they looked shaky going into Paris including said South Sudan pre-Olympic game earlier in this post. Good thing as I type this they are up double digits on a good Serbia team! 1 Quote trueyankee26.wordpress.com
GDAWG
Both basketball teams have solid pool of players for 2028. The men have Chet Holmgren, Zion Williamson, Jaylen Brown, Paolo Banchero, (if he's still around by then) Kawhi Leonard and (if he keeps his act straight) Ja Morant all probably in the pool for 2028 as LeBron, KD, AD, Jrue and Steph Curry are probably done after this, although seeing as how this the Olympic debut for Steph Curry, I can see him trying again for 2028. The Women will have Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, Arike Ogunbowale (who scored 34 points for the WNBA All Stars) and Dearica Hamby (who is on the 3 x 3 team) as current WNBA stars in the pool for 2028 (and potentially someone like Cameron Brink as well). But there's also collegians who by 2028 could very well be in the WNBA and dominate like Paige Bueckers, Juju Watkins and Hannah Hidalgo. Based on their roster as it stands, this is probably the last Olympics for Diana Taurasi. Otherwise, the team is fairly young and Brittney Griner could easily go one more.
MJWalker45
Sunday was a crazy one for women's soccer: Group A Colombia beat New Zealand 2-0, not a big surprise. Canada won 2-1 over France, with the winner coming in extra time. Canada is now on 0 points and still has a chance to make the quarters after being docked 6 points. Group B Australia beat Zambia in an offensive display 6-5. Banda for Zambia had a hat trick. The USWNT beat Germany 4-1, in what is considered a bit of a surprise to anyone that hasn't seen what Emma Hayes teams can do on the regular. Group C Brazil lost 2-1 to Japan, who scored both goals after 90 minutes, the first was a penalty. Spain beat Nigeria 1-0 in the one game that seemed to follow expected form. And we also have Snoop Dogg highlights reviews: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97pgI-LoEKM Also something that I believe is new this year, the international organization that is in charge of each event is included on a placard just outside the field of play. You can see the FIH logo on the upper left of the photo.
