Pharos04
I just did a random search and these popped up. Why don't they add these to the Pro Bowl uniform as well? might look goodor are these just promotional items
SteveR
I just think they want to give each player a strong identity to his team and the logos on the sleeves just aren't enough.
Jungle Jim
I agree with Steve. The ONLY reason I have ever watched any of the Pro Bowls is to see players from my favorite team on the field in their Bengals helmets. Naturally, I haven't watched too many Pro Bowls in recent years. But following the Super Bowl years of '81 and '88, along with another season or two in the 80s, there were several pumpkin heads on the field. FiddySicks
its easier to identify a player when he wears his regular helmet. ive been to the pro bowl, and when the players arent wearing helmets, its really hard to tell who is who, because, for example a player keeps his number even if another guy has the same number, so you could possibly have two number 40s on the field at the same time On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) Stampman
Plus it's fun to see how badly the helmets clash with the uniforms! Comic Sans walks into a bar, and the bartender says, "Sorry, we don't serve your type here."
KCScout76
I like it when they wear their own helmets. It's great to see the Cowboys, Giants, Eagles and 'Skins all lined up next to each other, instead of trying to CRUSH each other. sj32
They used to wear "NFC" and "AFC" helmets in the Pro Bowl but that was phased out in the early to mid-70's. Before the merger, they wore blank helmets (the colors varied from year to year).
yankeeman161
I THINK THEY SHOULD JUST WEAR THE COLORS OF THEIR OWN TEAM LIKE OTHER LEAGUES. mjrbaseball
When they wore special AFC and NFC helmets, they were actually the players' own helmets just painted over. Helmets have to fit just right and be properly broken in, and new helmets for the Pro Bowl just wouldn't work.Eventually, they stopped painting them over and let the players' teams be seen. I play football and i have used multiple helmets in a year ans the NFL get new helmets during the year and with the new inflatable padding in the helmets they always fit right. Now the only reason players dont wear NFC/AFC helmets is because it is their only sense of being reconized. Most people will know the #31 Saftey for the NFC wearing the Cowboys Helmet. That is Roy Williams. But Number most would not know who is 31 for the NFC where the NFC helmet without seeing the name on the backAnd also the NFL allows the playing to have repeated numbers (on same team) in the Pro Bowl and the only way to tell them apart is by the helmet
NJTank
Yeah you need something indentfying the team promantley I think it would look to generic if they had the NFC and AFC helmets though they may look nice. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com

Pharos04
Thanks guys, i was just wondering why i had never seen them (i'm still a youngin being born in '83) but those helmets would probably look pretty damn good with this year's uniforms with the AFC being in red and the NFC being in whites

I went to the HOF with my dad 2 summers ago and several of the helmets there had obviously been painted over multiple times, and some still had the outline of different logos on them. I asked about that and they said it was because when players made the Pro Bowl, they just painted over their helmets, and in some cases, the players either wore the same helmet again the next season, or had them painted back the correct way for a personal keepsake. I've decided to give up hope for all sports teams I follow

Confused me at first during last years where there was like 3 #81s on the sidelines.
