IceCap Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 i saw some guy on the street wearing a pakers replica pakers jersey that looked pretty effective except for the fact that it had the pakers logo under th ecollar where other teams have the wordmark (see bengals). any word on a pakers update? Gothamite Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 None that I've heard.I have seen plenty of Packers fashion jerseys that incorporate the logo somewhere - sleeves, chest (a la the Steelers and Jets), etc. Don't recall seeing one with the logo on the throat.Did the jersey have the "NFL EQUIPMENT" tag as well? Discrim Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 I think I may know what this guy saw...one of the low-rent replicas. IIRC last year Sears was selling jerseys with the G under the collar, "floating" sleeve stripes and numbers on the sleeves A strong mind gets high off success, a weak mind gets high off bull
Sec19Row53 Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 Who are these 'pakers' of whom you speak? I think Discrim has it nailed -- it sounds like the cheap fashion jersey making the rounds at all the discount retailers. It's where I sit.
Discrim Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 those particular ones, I only remember seeing at Sears. the lower-rent versions I saw at Walmart, Target and such, the one making the rounds across the state the past few years, those just got the front and back numbers, and then the G on each sleeve. VitaminD Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 The Packers are one of the few teams that can get away without a word mark. No other team looks even remotely like them in the NFL - the forest green and gold, the shoulder striping (BRING BACK THE 5 STRIPES!), the plain varsity white numbers. Similarly, you could identify teams like the Bears or Vikings without resorting to wordmarks. The only team that even vaguely resembles the Pack are the Edmonton Eskimos, and the NFC North isn't playing the CFL this year. "Start spreading the news... They're leavin' today... Won't get to be a part of it... In old New York..."In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

Gothamite Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 or they could update the yellow to metallic gold. They almost did.Check out the "1993" entry in the Green Bay Packers Uniform Database....As a lifelong Packer fan, I wish they had made the change. As for the wordmark, I hate having it on the jerseys. It's so obviously for merchandising, it turns my stomach. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.

Yeah ive seen those for the raiders, but the only difference is that the Radiers sell them at the stadium!!!! they dont even sell the NFL Equipment jerseys!!!! Discrim Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 that's hilarious...I, sittin on my ass in southeastern Wisconsin, can go to the local Finish Line and get an official Raiders replica if I wanted one, yet somebody going to the stadium has to get by with the Walmart version...too funny A strong mind gets high off success, a weak mind gets high off bull
brinkeguthrie Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 didnt the Pack have the G logo overlayed onto the sleeve stripes? or was that on the pants?
NJTank Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 They had the G on their jerseys in the 80s www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
Gothamite Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 didnt the Pack have the G logo overlayed onto the sleeve stripes? or was that on the pants? All your questions and more will be answered at The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database. But to give you a hint, the Packers wore their helmet logo on the sleeves from 1984-1988. They didn't wear the logo on the pants: they did wear a green oval with the player number on the pants from 1984-1987. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
