IronChefShark
KNBR 680 (THE Sports Leader ) reported this morning that Jerry Rice wants to return to the 49ers.The niners said that they would only sign him to a one day contract so he can retire. Jerry wants to play the whole season.Mike Nolan claims he wants to get the young guys playing experience, but why not bring Jerry back to play? Sure, he's not Jerry from 1995 but coming off a 2-14 season, why not? I only think he can help the 49ers and at the very least, give the fanbase something to look forward to when we go out to Monster Park this year. Not exactly slouchy numbers. Niners have nothing to lose.
FiddySicks
I heard this a few weeks ago and it makes no sense. When the Niners played the Hawks at 3Com this year I saw more people at that game than any other. Why? To see Jerry Rice!!! It really makes no sense On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.)
Cujo
Yeah, this story came out about a month ago. The 49ers have nothing to lose. I'd suit him up for one last go.

It really makes no sense and that alone would be a good reason to bring him back for at least this year. For the first time in my lifetime that I can remember, there are 49ers season tickets available to be bought. If bringing back an aging Jerry Rice would keep the place near full to capacity week after week so we avoid the local TV blackouts that DA RAIIIIIDAAAAHHHHS across the bay deal with, then Im all for it. I also wonder what kind of advice he could impart to someone like Alex Smith. I haven't heard whether Rice is much of a mentor, but that could be a logical reason to take him on for one more year. Mac the Knife
The only advice he could give Alex is what kind of tax shelters to buy into. Rice's probably not very much in tune with today's kids just getting into the league.
DEAD!
Q: "So, Jerry what kind of advice can you give to the young wide receivers coming into the league?"JR: "My advice is if you don't have a quarterback like Montana and Steve Young to throw the ball to you, then you have no chance of being a good wide receiver" NOTE: Not a real quote I saw, I came, I left. Joshawaggie
I would imagine he would still be able to contribute somewhat, especially for the 9ers, they dont have many offensive weapons. @josh_j12 CFA- Fargo Bobcats

yh
It would be a nice way to bridge the classic era of the 49ers with the new, up and coming generation of 49ers. I think it's worth filling one roster spot to have him on board.
