bhambruiser
As a Cubs fan, I am unsure about this trade. The Cubs could use a bat like Tejada, but is Prior too much to give? He has been injury prone lately and having Zambrano step up the last two seasons has made Prior more expendable...I am unsureDiscuss Millican StudiosMillican Studios Blog
Camden Crazy
Prior isn't enough in my mind...Tejada is a top 3 player in baseball and would only trade him straight up for 2 people:PujolsVladNeither are happening, I'd try to get Rich Hill and Pie out of them also. Cujo
Not gonna happen. I can't see the Cubs pulling the trigger on this one. They're gonna keep Prior no matter what. We're either going to taste victory or go down in flames with Prior, just like Kerry Wood.
See Red
When I heard a rumor of the Red Sox being involved in such a trade, the Cubs were also said to be giving up Corey Patterson, who would be an amazing player if he could put it all together. STL FANATIC
I've actually read a rumor where the Cards are in this.Eckstein, Mulder and a prospect for Tejada and a pitcher (two of the names mentioned were Bedard and Julio, don't remember the others).I'm not sure I buy that the Cards are even in the talks, but it's interesting. I'd hate to lose Eck and Mulder, but statistically I don't know that I'd be able to callt he trade a bad one. CS85
Not a fan of this trade. I like Tejada, but pitching wins you championships. Prior can be an ace when he's on his game and healthy, I don't think he's proved that he can be consistent, but he's got potential. Bleh. Tejada behind Pujols would be amazing. Spivey could lead off if needed.

I doubt this is actually a possibility though. You say resigning Mulder is doubtful, but I don't know where you (and others) get that impression. The Cards are planning on making a good chunk of money over the next few years, and the owners (despite some flack they've gotten lately--mine included) spend when they think it is worth it and will help the team. That seems to fit this situation, and to me, the Cards resigning a guy they want to resign is always probable...they rarely let a guy they really want back get away. To this point Edgar has been the only exception. I think the Cards will be able to sign Mulder to a multi-year deal sometime during the upcoming season. We'll see though. FightinIrish11
i dont know about what you other cubs fans think, but i'm very happy with what we have at short right now with neifi perez. he did an outstanding job filling in for nomar last season, although we never really saw the real nomar in chicago. neifi is a gold glover and can hit you some homeruns (i.e. grand slam in st. louis in july). anyway, tejada has a hot bat, but we've got that position filled. todd walker is good at second and if they needed to shift the two positions, jerry hairston jr. can back up at second and ronnie cedeno can back up at short AND second. so it's not the cubs dont have any depth to speak of at short. and in my opinion, prior is indespensible; he's still very young and will only get better (granted he must stay healthy). he will return to his 2003 (18-6) form. he is the ace of the rotation and with kerry wood up in the air right now, the cubs cannot take that chance by dumping prior. and they want bedard to come in as a 4th or fifth starter? they want the rotation to be wood, zambrano, maddux (lucky to win 13 this season) and bedard or rusch? while there are still 2 solid pitchers in that rotation, that wont be enough to hang around in the central. this move SHOULD NOT BE MADE

I really feel that Trading Mulder and Eck for Tejada would be way too much. I know that Tejada is a great fielder and hitter, but with the loss of Morris this off season and then to lose Mulder, i just wonder where the Cards are gonna find another big name starter. I know Morris' numbers have fallen slightly, but its never easy when you lose two members of your starting rotation in one winter. Another thing is that Eck is one of the most reliable leadoff men, and is durable as hell. honestly though, i feel whoever gets Tejada will end up overpaying in the long run On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) Jigga
I'm an O's fan, so let me say I would be 100% against any deal that involved Tejada and Bedard, they're only the two best friggin' players they have. I don't care if they did get Manny and Matty from the Red Sox. On January 16, 2013 at 3:49 PM, NJTank said: Btw this is old hat for Notre Dame. Knits Rockne made up George Tip's death bed speech.
