Are you fluffing NUTS?...it's come up before, but when you lose out to a place like Raleigh

Look at what I'm about to say very closely.

:censored: YOU.

"to a place like Raleigh?" Go :censored: yourself.

Keep your dick in your pants.

Mac, I think he meant it was a surprise that a city in North Carolina, a state not exactly famous for its hockey history, got a team before a major city in Ohio did, not that Raleigh is a craphole.

Back on the topic, Mario says he really wants to sell to someone who will promise to keep the Pens in Pittsburgh. The main suitor right now the casino that is expected to win the city's slot machine license, Isle of Capri.

Aw, c'mon. It's so big and pretty... :P

Yeah, looking back on it I know what he meant, but at first glance it really, really sounded like a shot.

I've lived in Cleveland.

I now live in Raleigh.

I can see why Raleigh has a team, and Cleveland doesn't. That's no knock on Cleveland, but Raleigh's got better demographics and more money floating around. Anyone who thinks Cleveland would get the nod over a number of other cities on the much-bandied about "short list" though is deluding themselves.

This comes 10 years to the day that Gary Bettman approved the sale of the Winnipeg Jets.

Now some people will say "Just give it up already," but I'm just sayin'...

(For those who don't know who Mark Chipman is, he's the head of the True North group that built the MTS Centre. Rumour has it he's backed by Asper [Can-West Global] and Richardson money.)

Cleveland? Ohio's got a team: the Blue Jackets. Columbus is apparently a great hockey town, and have appeased the NHL's need to have an Ohio team. Personally I want them to go to Winnipeg. Honetly I know that Winnipeg is a long shot at best, but its got a better chance then Cleveland.

Minor league hockey can't draw in a major city playing in an 18,000 seat arena. :hockeysmiley:

Please see:

Chicago Wolves, 1994-present

Philadelphia Phantoms, 1997-present

It can work. It just takes the right market and the right ownership.

My prediction:

-Pittsburgh Penguins move to either Houston or Kansas City.

-Columbus Blue Jackets swap conferences with Penguins (Blue Jackets to Eastern Conference, Penguins to Western Conference)

Howzdat?

While that would make sense, the Wings have reportedly been lobbying the NHL to move to the East should an Eastern Conference team move West. That supposedly started when Buffalo and Ottawa were for sale, or maybe the last time Pittsburgh almost moved, can't remember which.

Hamilton is out because either Toronto or Buffalo or both will make buying the territorial rights cost prohibitive

That's not true though. Buffalo has no territorial rights over Hamilton where toronto has territorial that cover copps but not all of hamilton. that being said I think it's either houston,KC,winnipeg or hamilton getting this team.

If the pens do move it will be Houston of KC. For 2 reason they are US markets. And they already have suitable arenas. For all that Winnipeg is being mentioned by the fans the city doesn't even have an NHL standard arena. The new arena there holds like 14,000 people and has few luxury boxes. I doubt the city of Winnipeg wants to build a new arena after they just bult one for the AHL.

From what I had been led to understand, both Buffalo and Toronto had a hand in making sure the NHL wouldn't expand to Hamilton the last two go-rounds.
