Tickets stamped to the Big Dance

I just got back from the Big South Championship game, where Winthrop beat Coastal Carolina 51-50 to take the championship and the conference's automatic bid to the Dance. I thought we were the first team to secure a spot, but it turns out the Ivy League's championship was yesterday.

It was an amazing game...we were down 50-49 until 9.9 seconds, when Craig Bradshaw's bucket put us up. We almost gave it away, but wo cares? WE'RE DANCING!! :D

If anyone saw it on ESPN2, I'm pretty sure I was on there at least once. White guy, shaggy hair, burgundy USC hat, gold shirt...that was all me. At the end of the game, I had a sign that said "Goin' to the Big Dance...It's Awesome, Baby"...but I'm not sure if I was on. I love this :D The parties tonight are gonna be nuts...here's hoping that I get off work early ^_^

I was on call last night. When I woke up this afternoon, I caught the last 10 minutes of the second half. I was looking for you during the game, but I didn't see the guy from the Photo Scavenger Hunt pix.

I was hoping for the obligatory "YOU CAN'T SPELL 'WINTHROP' WITHOUT 'W-I-N'" poster. Maybe next year.

Great game, nice win. See you at the Dance. I love March.

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

Congratulations on Winthrop winning the first conference tournament championship of 2006!

Actually, the IVY League was decided last night.

I so wanted Coastal Carolina to win that game. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Winthrop, but I just can't shake the fact that I picked the Eagles to beat That Overrated School from Spokane (TOSS) last year in the NCAA's, but the Eagles choked.

Congrats to them, Belmont, Murray State, and Penn: The first four in the Big Dance.

Penn clinched the regular season title in the Ivy League Friday night. The regular season champion gets the automatic bid (I can still remember when the Big Ten and Pac-10 did things the same way), so they beat Winthrop to the punch.

Props extended to Belmont and Murray State while we are at it. At least one Nashville school is in the field of 65.
