Reebok's contract with the NFL

I can understand them wanting one company to make jerseys. It was pretty silly when we had Starter, Nike, Puma, and Adidas all making replica jerseys.

The NFL deciding they only need one video game was completely retarded, though.

I preferred it that way...it's called competition, and it usually forces products quality. I loved both the Nike and adidas replica NFL jerseys.

I don't really Mind Reebok so much, I can just imagine the horrors Nike might have come up with.

Nike had five years to come up with ideas, and yet, they didn't change a whole lot. Give Nike a break. The biggest change was the Broncos, and while it was different at the time, it wasn't a "horror".

... until you realise that when a Broncos player is in the three-point stance, the sides of the pants/jersey creat the Nike swoosh.

That, my friend, is a horror.

It's also a stretch to call it a Nike Swoosh.

I agree. I wonder sometimes about the paranoia surrounding Nike.

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008

Well, they also butchered the Steelers jerseys with a needless change.

I gave Nike a lot of credit for the new football designs, it's only fair that I take them to task for what they did in the NFL.

I would say the changes Nike did to the Broncos, Steelers, Cowboys, and Dolphins pale in comparison to the major changes we've seen since 2000 (Bills, Bengals, Cardinals, Seahawks).

I didn't ever notice any competition. They all cost pretty much the same, and there was no significant difference between the jerseys (unlike Madden vs. NFL 2k).

Yes and it was that competition that kept the prices down, back when I began to purchase replica jerseys, they cost no more than $45. Nowadays with the Reebok monopoly (which has its own pros and cons) replica jerseys go for $74.99.

Wow, $45 replicas! I remember those days...

There were subtle differences between replicas put out by Nike, adidas, Reebok (pre-NFL Equipment), Puma, etc.

Nike and adidas were the most accurate, IMO. The one thing I loved about both company's replicas was that the number sizes were accurate, with larger numbers on the back, as is the case with authentic NFL jerseys.

Pumas weren't bad, the quality was ok, as were the Reebok jerseys. For some reason, Reebok replicas had player nameplates higher off the back numbers than usual.
