Yellow shirt, white shorts (totally white, I don't see any stripes on them), white socks.

It was bad enough with the white socks and blue shorts, with the white shorts it makes the ugliest soccer kit I've ever seen. :puke:

White socks don't look too good with white boots either !

BTW does Ronaldo look like he's going in slow motion or what?

His kit should be made out of Naugahyde, because he's a La-Z-Boy

The white shorts are worn today because Japan is wearing their all-blue kit. Different? yeah. Bad? Not really.

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008

I thought it looked very unstable, but since the Japanese reverse colors are white tops/blue shorts, it was probably the best solution to issue. Brasil in green would be another route, but that would like having the Yankees wear something else or maybe a BP top. Ronaldo's yellow cleats made it look like he was wearing two bananas.

well Ronaldo wasn't that bad today, he did net 2 goals to tie the world cup record for most goals scored.

I would agree however that the Yellow white white scheme is terrible, as is their white socks with blue shorts they have been sporting most of the tourney.

oh sorry it just doesn't seem like anything earthshattering. There is a clear cut reason being that Japan was wearing blue and I can not imagine it looked that bad. It's not as if they wore yellow shirts with borrowed checkerboard shorts from Croatia.

My apologies Chris.

Croatia doesn't have chequered shorts.

big deal.

i liked you better when you weren't posting

Thank God! I've been saying that every moment that he's been around here, whether it's stuff like "big deal" or "that looks stupid" in the new Ducks logo thread or the ever-hypocritical "clean that logo up". The kid's got 900 posts and I bet 600 of them are stupid fluff like that. I was under the impression this forum is to discuss stuff like this, because people do care about stuff like this and people do want somewhere to discuss it.

And anyways, to make my post in this thread relevant to the topic, I liked the look today. It seems like they try to force way too much with the blue shorts and the yellow-and-green top, and the white shorts just looked better.

*smashes head on desk*

I'm convinced both Adidas and Puma are just trying to foil Nike's otherwise good-looking uniforms by going mono-color. the Japanese have blue with white shorts and blue socks as their nominated home kit, but then they break out the all-blue.

this has been happening to the Dutch too, they haven't worn their dutch flag-looking nominated home kit yet, it's been orange on orange on orange throughout the group stages for the Oranje.

c'mon people. it's not too difficult. Home team sets the uniform, away mixes and matches to contrast. we don't need a new "ZOMG NEW WORLD CUP OUTFIT!!1!!!" thread every time it happens.

Thank you harperdc. That is what I was trying to get across myself. Too bad my efforts were apparently not sufficient.

Well, this is a discussion board. Someone thought it was worthy of discussion. Some are choosing to discuss it while others are complaining that it's not worth discussing...but yet they do feel it's worth discussing that it's not worth discussing, thus becoming part of the discussion and their actions therefore do not agree with their originally stated opinion. Still others, like myself, are discussing the people who are discussing how this is not a discussable topic.

Am I the only one who's confused here? I feel like the Japanese defenders right about now.

Quick question: So does Brazil even have a different jersey if they just changed shorts yesterday?

Brazil's traditional change kit is blue shirt, white shorts, IIRC, so that wouldn't have worked in this instance.
