Florida Panthers Switching Logos?

A quick check of the Florida Panthers website seems to indicate that they'll be using the alternate (panther breaking hockey stick) logo this upcoming season. The banner features the logo, the sign at the press conference introducing the new players acquired from the Canucks featured the logo, and the ad for Opening Night also uses it.

Most importantly, at that Bertuzzi, et al event, the new players were given those glorious red jerseys, sadly relegated to third jersey status these past couple of years.

While I love the red jersey, the alternate logo has always been silly to me. The broken stick looks like an afterthought addition to the original logo. And how much hockey do they expect to play with broken sticks, anyway?

Thank God for that...I love the red jersey, one of the best NHL jerseys around, IMO. It was a travesty when the navy jersey took over as the road (then home) jersey.

So Atlants dropped their navy jersey and now Florida dropped theres? Wow, Atlanta was stupid to move their 3rd to primary while the Panthers made a smart move.

Thank the Lord. The red jersey is awesome.

Dr. Kelso: No, it's not.

I don't get having different logos on home and away sweater. I'd go with the non-stick one, but just some consistency would be nice.

I really like all of the Florida Panthers jerseys. But I do agree with the change back to the red being the home jersey. I still haven't liked the NHL switching from white to dark at home, but there are certain teams I like with the colored jersey at home.

The Panthers are one of those teams. I don't care if they wore white at home or not. The red one is fine in my book.

I was thinking the exact same thing--if the panther has broken his own stick, then playing with it would be a minor penalty. And if that's an opponent's stick the panther has broken, aside from not being especially sporting, that's got to be a minor penalty as well (something akin to slashing). Imagine the St. Louis Cardinals perched on a broken baseball bat or the Miami Dolphin were wearing a cracked helmet (though he is somewhat similar in that he is wearing an illegal helmet--no facemask--grandfathered in maybe?).

Anyway, I liked the navy jerseys when they introduced them as a change of pace, but as a primary jersey, the red is so much better.

I like the Panthers' red jerseys over the navy. I guess the navy is a good alt, but leave it at that, just an alt. They have sweet jerseys. I was gonna buy the red one, without the panther and the broken stick around Christmas time, instead I got the white one. The white one is clean and smooth, but I'm glad that they are changing back to the red as the primary.

Anyone else notice this? Bad photoshop job, or a sign of things to come?
