Worst Uniform City in Sports

Well, we have the Best thread, so might as well accompany it with a Worst thread.

For cities with at least 3 of the majors, I would have to say the worst is a two way tie between...

Philadelphia: I mean, the Phillies look is mediocre at best, probably middle to lower pack in mlb. The Eagles have been turned into a cartoonish rollerball team. The Sixers...well, let's just say their look could use more than just a little tweaking. And the Flyers still look good, even though they went to black at home full time and screwed up those beautiful orange sweaters.

And...

Phoenix: The Coyotes, strangely, are the only good looking team in town anymore since the Cardinals began play in the arena league. The Suns look a little goofy, but what kills Phoenix is the Diamondbacks - one of the very worst looking teams in major US sports.

Honorable mentions go to Atlanta, Minneapolis, Tampa/St. Pete and Washington.

For cities with two major teams, my vote goes to Nashville.

You make some compelling arguments for those ciies, but I have a good one for ya:

Denver. The Broncos are pretty hideous, the Rockies are a mess, I don't like the Nuggets UCLA jerseys at all, and the Avalanche is mediocre at best, but needs some updating. That whole city needs work.

City with two teams: Buffalo, anyone?

No argument on Buffalo. The Bills can't seem to decide which shade of blue they should wear. And the shoulders-of-color on their white jerseys are right out of a low-budget Hollywood B-movie- "The thing that ate Ralph Wilson's toupee." And those hideous colored pants look like they were from Reebok's bargain bin.

The Sabres are going to wear the "Buffaslug." I can't wait to see how they screw up that uniform.

The Queen City hasn't had a good uniform since the NBA Braves left and took their Columbia Blue and Black with them. THOSE were classic uniforms!

1. Baltimore/Washington DC (Im combining the two because, well, I want to)

2. Denver (agreed that Avalanche save them from top spot)

3. Los Angeles

4. Buffalo (wouldve been #1 if Buff had a third team)

5. Philly (Good: Flyers, ruined by the alt logo. Bad: Phillies, Blech. Ugly: Sixers, just yuck)

I disagree with Philly, maybe cause it is my hometown but seriously

Phillies - not hat bad, easy to identify, of course tho the phillies had a different look before 92, so its understandable why it isnt included into the classic uniforms like the Yankees, Tigers, Red Sox and such. But I still think its a very nice look for the Phillies.

Flyers - Still very good as you mentioned, it would be better tho if the old orange jersey came back.

Eagles - Average, I don't think it looks that bad, the black jersey maybe (even tho I own a replica) but it works, of course if it was up to me, I would hope the movie invincible, could inspire the eagles to go to those jersyes :)

76ers - total crap, I agree, bad enough all nba teams wear their shorts long, its not like they did that to play better, but rather a stupid image. take that plus the widest tops in the nba, with bad colors, it just looks very medicorem the sixers need to take one step back, and go back to the uniforms of 95.

I considered adding Denver to my list, but honestly I don't think the Broncos look bad. And the Rockies, as long as they stay away from those goofy alts, aren't that bad either.

Baltimore/Washington, to me, isn't a consideration because the Orioles and Redskins look good for the most part.

I should have mentioned Cincy for cities with two teams, because the Reds have screwed up their look enough to warrant inclusion. I think we all know the Bengals are a given in the atrocious uniform department.

I only left Buffalo off because we don't know what the Buffaslug uniforms will look like. I'm sure once they're unveiled they'll fit right in on the worst city list.

What about LA is bad? Dodgers are great, Angels are great, Lakers are great. Do the Clips, Kings, and Ducks bring them down that much?

Tampa Bay

Lightning: The logo is so very early 90s and the shoulder er thingie (sorry I dunno what it's called) is something the Leafs had for 20ish years! (glad they got rid of that for the most part)

Devil Rays: Pretty boring uniforms IMO and well their first set was an abomination to mankind

Bucs: The pewter look is ok but they've got WAAAY too many different combinations and quite frankly the uniform concept is a rip-off of the Raiders.

Ehhh its just mainly bias on my part. Plus i dont like that LA has a purple and yellow team, ugly imo, a team with the same name and colors as a team from another sport in the rival part of the state (but of course i dont know who wore purple and silver and black first), ive never liked red and royal as a color combo, anything Dodgers makes me cringe, and I dont consider the Ducks and Angels "Los Angeles" teams (please, dont go there).

I think Toronto.

Blue Jays - Mostly black and gray, horrible beveled letter font, very SMALL mix of blue in with black (and I hate the combo of black and blue.)

Raptors - Getting better, but they had nowhere to go but up.

Maple Leafs - Kind of boring. I know it's classic, but I don't like the full team name on the leaf, or the boring blue and white.

Argos - Not bad now... but, again, they had nowhere to go but up recently. Though it is kind of too close to the Titans.

That being said... I've been wearing a Jays hat around for the past week.

My top 5, in no particular order...

Tampa: When the Bucs are the best one, that's saying something.

Buffalo: Horrible all around, but only 2 teams.

Cincinnati: See Buffalo.

Philadelphia: Nothing extraordinarily bad except Eagles' black jersey, but nothing that good either.

Phoenix: When the Cards are the best one, that's saying something.

oh ,my god ,i strong recommend you to have a visit on the website ,or if i'm the president ,i would have an barceque with the anthor of the articel .

Worst: Minnesota. The Wild's uniforms oughta be Black Dahlia'd. The Twins look like a magic eye picture, and the Timberwolves, while not bad, have that awkward jagged font and that weird tree striping. The Vikings are okay.

2md Worst: Denver/Colorado. The Avalanche need to drop that awful burgundy color and those terrible jagged stripes. The Rockies are a complete mess. The Broncos have that awful orange stripe thing going on. The Nuggets aren't too bad, though they really oughta use a darker blue.

3rd Worst: Philadelphia. The Flyers home and road jerseys are two of the nicer jerseys in the entire NHL. Every other uniform the city has produced for every other team an be done away with. The Eagles have about the ugliest shade of green ever and the most awkward looking font of them all. The Phillies need the start all over from the very beginning again. The name is so stupid and the logo is not very relevant. The Sixers...have the busiest wordmark in the history of sports and a pretty lame uniform set.

Cincinnati? Seriously? The Reds have a potentially classic look on their whites and greys anyway, and the Bengals have the rockingest jersey set in all of football. Except black jerseys/black pants and white jerseys/white pants.

Phoenix, I think the Suns have the best set in the NBA.

4 teams

denver-broncos look like hell. rockies arent that bad if they just go with the pinstriped rockies at home, colorado on the road, no alts and a black hat. nuggets are bleh, powder is the new teal. avalanche are freakin crap.

3 teams

milwaukee/gb-brewers look too damn corporate though their alts look good. bucks arent that great(i realize theyre changing but red and green dont go well together. packers need striped socks and grey masks

2 teams

buffalo-everything that needs to be said has been in this thread

1 team

sacramento-where to begin...

4 teams or more

You really can't say. It seems every time you look at, say, three ugly uniforms, you run into a pretty good one or even a classic to contradict it. Let's use Washington as an example: Nationals are ugly, Wizards are ugly, Capitals are ugly, but Redskins are kind of classic looking. The problem with some of these cities, though, is some of those uniforms are SO awful (Colorado Rockies, for example) that it makes you forget the really nice uniforms (Colorado Avalanche).

3 teams

Same problem with 4 teams or more. For example, I was thinking of Toronto and I thought of the ugly Raptors and Blue Jays uniforms, but the Maple Leafs uniforms are pretty classy. (And, no, the Argos don't count -- they'd have to be NFL, not CFL.)

2 teams

1. Buffalo. Everybody has had their say on this.

2. Cincinnati. The Bengals need to go back to the 1980s look. The Reds need to go back to the 1970s look, only without the sans-a-belt look.

1 team

Columbus. Those Blue Jackets uniforms may have nice coloring, but they are ugly.
