....maybe that 55 feet tall and 134 feet wide will finally help Longhorn fans determine whether or not a player's foot was inbounds when he makes a catch! But, hey at least Teaxs can make use of the scoreboard. Texas A&M, on the other hand is another story.... ^_^

Well, for those that have been to Turner Field in the last two years, the 72'x80' HDTV BravesVision Video Board is pretty impressive, and can certainly catch (and keep) your attention. Just based on square footage, the Braves (their web-site still claimes it is the world's largest HD video board) is 5760 sq. ft., while Texas's new board will be 7370 sq. ft. - or 1610 sq. ft. larger.

"Built by South Dakota-based Daktronics Inc., the $8 million scoreboard and accompanying sound system easily dwarf the old unit."

Anybody else at least a little suprised is was built by folks from South Dakota not Silicon Valley or some other tech hot spot.

Actually, no.

If you look at any electronic scoreboard or video screen, chances are very likely it's a Daktronics. I'm pretty sure they're the leading manufacturer in the industry.

Besides, DAKota + eleTRONICS = DAKTRONICS.

I think the company was started by two professors from South Dakota State University in Brookings. I did a bit of research on the company for a project I worked on last year (less about the company, more about specs and materials), and the people that I spoke with did indeed have their :censored: together.
