A Change for the Chiefs

Chief.

Overall I think it's a solid concept. However your "LH" looks too much like U of Houston's "UH" for me. Perhaps you could put the "LH" in the arrowhead.

I once had a car but I crashed it. I once had a guitar but I smashed it. I once, wait where am I going with this?

Honestly, I say lose the LH thing all togather. Bears, Browns, Chiefs, whos next? I get the "tribute" thing, but I think the permanent uni tribute thing is kind of getting out of hand. Hell, if I was an owner of a team, I wouldnt want my teams unis clutterered up with my initials after I died. But thats just my opinion.

I don't know - in this case a permanent memorial might be appropriate. If "Papa Bear" Halas has a permanent memorial for helping keep the NFL alive in the early days, then Lamar Hunt deserves one for bringing the AFL into existance and being one of the driving forces that created the "modern" NFL, the Super Bowl, etc. However, I can also see Lamar Hunt not wanting a permanent memorial.

I would have been fine with the Giants doing something for Wellington Mara, but I also respect the family for not doing it since that was not what he wanted.

However, I do have an issue with the Browns "AL" since Cleveland was going to get them back regardless, the Lerner's group just put in the highest bid.

The number of the front of the jersey is a bit small. I'm not a big fan of the LH initials. Maybe if the initials were part of a modified AFL logo using the same font as the KC in the Chiefs logo.

They did have a patch, for one season, which is fine IMO. A patch that is not team colors (in the Giants case, black) so it stands out for one season is fine. But to toss it on the uni permanently is a bit over the top.

In my opinion, a temporary tribute to a teammate, coach, owner, etc. is alright. However, after a season, it can get out of hand.

As for the jerseys, I am not digging the LH. Not only does it look to much like University of Houston's UH, but it is hard to read also. I would suggest a much simpler logo, such as an block lettered LH patch or a blacked out arrowhead with LH on it. However, I like the jersey's numbers, but they would look better with bigger striping, and maybe some stripes on the socks,

I could see Kansas City going futuristic, but not quite like this. C+

As my high school art teacher used to say, "hats and shoes", meaning you need serifs top and bottom. I'd say lose the serif on the right arm of the "L". actually, the right arm is the serif. add another to the base of the "L" and that'll be settled.

Right; I do remember those and thought they were very tastefully done. I wasn't increadilby clear, but referring to Mara being one of the few who might be considered for a permanent memorial. It is always appropriate to have either a "remainder of the season" patch for an important person in the organization - owner, current player, "long-time member of the family" player (I'm thinking like what the Yankees have done for historic figures like Mickey Mantle, etc.).

Yeah, as much as Mara and Hunt contributed to the game, I think that's one tribute that should be limited to Halas.

And I hate the cheating bastard.

Hey, if the Bears want to honor an unapologetic racist, it's just one more reason to hate them.

Yeah, you've got too much going on with your "L". I really thought you had taken someone's University of Houston concept and put a Chiefs wordmark on the front. It took me a minute to realize that was an "LH". You really have to re-do those letters so that they are recognizable as what they are supposed to be.

It's where I sit.

I think Mara and Hunt's contributions to the NFL are at least on par with those of Halas.

Yes, Halas played an important role in the start of the league. It was Mara and Hunt, however, who helped make the league the sports juggernaut it is today.

If the Giants and Chiefs want to honor Mara and Hunt with a permanent uniform tribute, I say go for it. They're just as deserving as Halas is.

As for the concept, I think the "LH" is to big.

Look at the two teams who have permanent uniform tributes. The Bears and Browns both place theirs indiscreetly in the sleeve striping. I would try something like that for the Chiefs. Or maybe a small "LH" under the collar where a wordmark would go.
