Nick Saban goes to Bama

I really dont see how taking a better job is being a "sellout". Its exactly what any of us would do, regardless of how "loyal" our employers have been to us. Its business.

Is he a sellout? Maybe... but if so, who of us here isn't? I don't know a single person that doesn't put their personal career decisions ahead of the good of their current employer.

It seems that Saban made a choice that will benefit him as a professional. Does it suck for Dolphin fans? Sure... but it's hard for me to give him too much greif for it.

At which point does having a willingness to jump at any higher-paying job, regardless of success you've had at your current employer, start to catch up to you?

As long as there's a team that wants him to be their coach -- be it his current or potential employer -- his mercenary tendencies are irrelevant. Larry Brown, anyone?

Exactly. The man is basically the Larry Brown of football. Hopefully for him this won't be the New York Knicks, because if they lose to Auburn one more 'gain then there's gonna be a riot.

If we beat Alabama this year (which is a good possibility seeing how the games at home and will likely mean us going to the peach or music city bowls) then I will buy a full page ad in the Tuscaloosa paper saying:

$40 Million later and you still can't beat Auburn. War Eagle.

If I were an NFL owner, the next college coach I hired would have a clause that if they left early for a college job, they'd pay back their signing bonus or have to buy out their contract in some way. Same as a buyout clause the other way. If they won't accept...they won't get hired.

This isn't a single player. Its a system that gets put into place with a coach, and when that coaches leaves halfway through, its not just his salary, but the salaries of the types of players that they added. Its the wasted years of a good player like Jason Taylor (if he returns)

When the Bears changed coaches for example, they had to get rid of the previous' regime's takles, who were fat and were only ment to stop guys from getting to Urlacher. With Lovie's defense, he needed athletic types. Now, the Bears fired Juron, but I'm sure there are similar situations in Miami.

Nick Satan is pure scum, hes a lying weasel and a back stabber, hiring him in the first place was a mistake. I hope him nothing but failure in Alabama, and I hope he commits a recruiting violation that ends up putting Bama on a SMU type probation.

May they never beat Auburn, Tennessee may they never sniff the BCS.

you don't think Nick Saban is a sellout? that's the funniest thing i've heard this year.

let's see...recent memory:

Saban bolts from Michigan State to coach LSU

Saban bolts from LSU to coach the Dolphins

Saban bolts from Miami to coach Alabama

he either suffers from ADD, or is the epitome of a sellout.

nick saban can eat a bag of dicks for all i care.

yes. i'm a michigan state fan.

Not for nothing but.. let's not forget he left Toledo after one season if memory serves.

If his hiring at Miami was a mistake, why are you so mad that he's leaving?

What happened to that free enterprise thing that allowed people to go for the better job or more money?

Alabama did nothing wrong, you shouldn't wish bad on them.

I don't mind Saban leaving, but at least he should not have denied that he was going and then a few days later do the exact opposite thing. I'm sure the he tried very hard to deflect the attetion from the media about this issue, however that is the very thing I'm sick of. I don't we can take people's word at news conferences any more.

I saw, I came, I left.

The odd thing now is that also with Pat Riley taking a leave of absence, all of South Florida's teams are in some sort of coaching turmoil. The Miami Hurricanes (Coker), Miami Dolphins (Saban), FIU (Strock), Miami Heat (Riley), and Florida Marlins (Girardi) have all lost their coaches in the last 3 months. On top of that the Florida Panthers (Keenan) lost their GM. I guess nobody wants to stay in South Florida anymore!?

So what happens 2 years* from now when Penn State waves $60 mil in Nick's face?

*-Give or take, no one really knows how long JoePa will last but I'm assuming sooner as opposed to later. And when I mean last, I mean retire, I don't think he's ready to keel over just yet.
