this would be the 1st time in years that they wont have the Heisman winner(minus Desmond Howard) from the previous year on the cover. We'll find out tomorrow, March 2nd if this is true or not.

BSU qb EA Sports NCAA Football 08 cover boy?

The Idaho Statesman is reporting that Jared Zabransky will be on the cover of NCAA Football 2008:

"Former Boise State quarterback Jared Zabransky will grace the cover of EA Sports NCAA Football 2008, one of the most popular sports-themed video games in the country.

"It's extremely big for us as an athletic department. It crosses generations by touching kids and adults ... It's an incredible marketing opportunity,'' said Brad Larrondo, who is the Broncos' senior associate athletic director for promotions and marketing.

EA Sports NCAA Football 2008 will be released later this year. More than a million copies are purchased every year.

Former USC running back and Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush was on last year's cover.

BSU has already seen and approved the artwork for the Zabransky cover, Larrondo said. Zabransky, who will be in New York in late April for the NFL Draft, will begin promoting the product later this year.

"The Fiesta Bowl victory was a key to it all, and he was the quarterback behind the fairy-tale story,'' Larrondo said.

Larrondo said BSU gets more royalty money from EA Sports than any other licensee. Last year, the school received $78,551 from EA Sports, he said. Boise State receives the money because the football team, like all Division I-A teams, is part of the game."

Is it possible that EA could be going to regional covers? I know back in '05 they had 3 different covers for NBA '05. Granted, they were different covers for different countries but I think the idea could still work.

For example:

East coast: Calvin Johnson

Midwest: Troy Smith

West Coast: Jared Zabransky

I think that picture, or the from behind, just Z with the ball behind his back, would be a great cover shot.

 I never thought id see the day when a WAC player got that kinda coverage. That woyld be amazing to see a smaller conference get that kind of recognition.

Those covers bring back memories. I can still remember being in second grade and playing the hell out of College Football USA. NCAA 99 was the year I got hooked on it, though.

Anyways, I would've gone with CJ on the cover, but I'll live with Zabransky. I mean damn, Boise St. is gonna ride this til the wheel falls off.

if a bronco is going to be on the cover it should be ian johnson

He can't, as it's against NCAA regulations (they are monetarily compensated for their image).

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008
