I had a huge jerseygasm when I saw this Frank Thomas jersey on ebay for $35 until I saw there was a reserve bid... I tested it up to the most I was willing to pay for it right now but the reserve is still too high :(

OOOH that IS pretty. Too bad all my cash goes towards rent

I have no idea if I got ripped off or not but I snagged these two beauties from Kensington Market the other day, the Bure jersey for $30 and the Jays vest for $28. I would like to know which year the Jays is from and which tournament and year the Bure one is from.

The Jays vest is a 1998 Canada Day jersey.

I can't quote a year, but I'm thinking that the Bure jersey could be from the '91 world juniors or '91 world championship because it was produced by Tackla. Pretty much a guess, though.

Hey, its more of a guess than I had, which was no effin clue, lol. I can't really find any info on Google after a 10 minute search for websites with photos. I guess now I have to try and find pictures from those torunaments to see if it matches....

EDIT: I did some searching online and found some hockey card pics and from 90-91, Bure had a C (well, 'K') on his jersey which this one lacks. It could just be a crappy Russian made (as the tag shows) replica and they didn't include it... but as of right now, my best bet is it is from '91 World Championships which would explain for the lack of the K on it...

As for the Jays vest, I didn't think it was '98 because they were not wearing vests that season, although it would make sense that people liked it and it led to them wearing them the next season as an alternate.

The holes are too big in the mesh for that Tackla jersey to be authentic. Bootleggers were big into fakey replicas with that same tagging in the back. The printing fades too quickly, and I'm guessing there's no tie-down strap in the back.

The Russell is likely a salesman's sample; weren't the authentic Canada Day jerseys red?

I had no doubt that the Bure jersey was some kind of cheaply made thing from somewhere in Russia (hence pointing out the tag which is all in Russian and I thought was nifty). Everything on that jersey is sublimented and the holes are verticle on the front while horizontal on the back (which is strange and accounts for a slight colour difference between the two sides). There is also no tie-down strap and never thought it was a pro, just some crazy replica from the Steppes or something like that, lol.

As for the Jays jersey, I thought the vests were red in '97 but cannot find photos from any other time. I hope to figure it out soon... everything on it is stiched so maybe for '98 or '99 they were white for some reason but I cannot figure it out at the moment.

The jays jersey is from 1998, it was worn with a red t-shirt with a Jays logo patch on the sleeve... I believe Woody Williams was the starter that game

Picture... you can tell it's 1998 because Ed Sprague is in there

Even if it were an authentic Tackla jersey, it wouldn't have a tie down in the back.

Here's a link to a hi-res photo of my game worn one.

http://image53.webshots.com/753/4/87/88/27...52jbNlES_fs.jpg

It's got the same size holes, but more of them spaced closer together.

Here's another photo of a Tackla made replica for you to compare to yours.

http://image68.webshots.com/168/7/82/91/24...52mPmxov_fs.jpg

There's a few subtle differences, like the thickness of the star in the Tackla chest logo, the thin red line separating the yellow from the white on the sleeve and waist triangle striping isn't there and the thickness of the lines of the drop shadow on the numbers is smaller, but those are minor. It's a nicely done jersey, as I've seen some really bad ones that have funky fonts for the name or that are screen printed and not sublimated like yours.

It's not an authentic Tackla made jersey (it even says "Troika" on the neck tag), but it's a great conversation piece that will get you some attention when you wear it and you would have been hard pressed to get on off ebay, while having to pay for shipping, for hardly any less I'd guess.

Nice pick up on the Jays jersey. It's a good one.

Wow, you are right, there is a thin red line seperating the smaller red lines from the white which appears on yours but not on mine. Also, the white line under the hem red triangle is much more bold on yours compared to mine. I never really thought it was real to begin with but for something as unique and cool looking as that, I figurered I could part with $30 because I never see them around. I really wish I could find out what the tag says because it is all in Russian and gives no indication of size or materials which is a tag strange. It is also made out of this weird thin, rice paper looking material... gotta love those communists and their high quality merchandise!!

I'm happy with the Jays pick up, although I now need to find a red shirt to wear underneath it, and hopefully find the red Jays cap to make it all look proper....

Plus, wouldn't the Bure jersey have БУPE on the back?

Still, it's a sweet pickup along with the Canada Day jersey. Nice find!

As you can see from the pics... no. :P

I got to see a game used Mogilny from '89 and it did not have a fight strap on it and realllly looked almost identical to mine (sublimented numbers AND name). What I'd like to see is another replica and see if it is similar to mine or closer to the game used ones.

The only problem with the Canada Day jersey is that the stiching on the top left corner of 'B' is coming undone and pealing a bit, so I gotta find a way to fix it, otherwise, it is wicked. I just need to pick up a red t-shirt and either buy some patches or iron on some decals to make it more authentic looking!! :D

I meant the one he actually wore.

Not that version of the jersey from what I have seen. Spyboy has a game worn and it has an english name plate and the Mogilny I saw also had an english nameplate.
