In a Unique Thrift in Fairfax, Va.

A replica Apex football jersey from the University of Minnesota, 1994. I couldn't believe it. Two Ms, ugly crap.

$7 later, it's going with my 1990-94 Germany, 1974 (not 1975) Houston Astros, 2002 Cepestral Keprovetz, 1977 Phillies Saturday Night Special, 1978 Colorado Caribous, 1980 Tucson Toros, 2001 Cameroon (complete with black sleeves!), 1977 Philadelphia Fury, 2007 Oregon football (or, for that matter, any Oregon team done in highlighter yellow), 1996 Princeton men's hockey home, 1977 Cleveland Cavaliers, 1994 Cleveland Cavaliers, 2003 Dallas Mavericks alternate (regrettably, not the shiny version), 1994 U.S. soccer, 1995 Amsterdam Admirals, 1998 New England Revolution alternate, 1980 Vancouver Canucks, and 2002 U.S. roller hockey team in An Ultimate Pantheon to Fugliness.

Go Route 50 to Gallows Road, and head north as if you were going to go to Kevin Grevey's restaurant. Go further up and it's the big shopping center with the Great Wall and Five Guys in it. If you get to Rt. 29, you've gone too far.

How in the hell did you get your hands on a Caribous jersey? I mean, the fringe, man! The mother :censored: in' fringe!

Also, your collection is in need of a '95 Iowa banana peel jersey. But the M&M is quite the achievement in its own right.

Could you post a pic of the '98 Revolution alternate jersey?

Er, I just broke down and made one. It's a decent replica, though I've had to work on the fringe a bit. The original was in twill and it was quite flimsy. I just wonder if they used real leather for the fringe ...

Ok, so this isn't exactly a "Thrift Store" Gem per se', but it should work.

I picked this up from a street vendor here in Waikiki the other day for $125

Now, the reason I call this a "Gem" is because, while it may be a bootleg, it's damn near impossible for most people to tell, and even pretty hard for most who really know their stuff. Plus, when the NFL shop is charging $330 for the same jersey, and the Pro Bowl "Official Merchandise" shops are charging $120 for a REPLICA Pro Bowl jersey (Thats screen printed replica, at least a $50 markup from last year  ), I'll take what I can get.

Yesterday in a Value Village in Lanham, Md., I picked up a Buda Ball jersey from about the year 2002.

The name isn't of any significance, but the style is.

It's practically the last Houston Astros knockoff, made in the wake of the Nelly/Outkast video craze, that I didn't already own. I have several Bigland jerseys, a few NYC-212s, a couple of Majestic Hardwood Classics, one labeled a Throw Back Jersey, a Zoo York Astronomical Outfielder, a couple from Vokal, one from Target, and one from Trust.

The color pattern is black, slate grey, powder blue, and a magenta/red blend. I had seen one of these in a store in Atlanta in October 2003, but they wanted $40 for it. Good things come to those who wait, I guess.
