Joshawaggie
The guy who tipped off Rick Reily's rant about everyone being white, and was disappointed they chose "this guy" when they could have put in someone black or hispanic, wins the Derby. As happy as I am for Justin, I was hoping Hamilton came through the whole way.edit: Jason! hah! @josh_j12 CFA- Fargo Bobcats
FiddySicks
Wow, the State Farm guy just announced the winner as JASON Morneau. Wow, what a horrible dissapointment at the end of the derby. Still though, Hamilton is the guy everyone is gonna remember from this one, not JASON Morneau. logodawg
I tried to watch the homerun derby but I had to stop because I couldn't stand all the "last All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium" crying. You know what? I don't care. I love baseball and the Tigers but I HATE the Yankees. I don't care about their temple to bad 70s architecture. It's not the House that Ruth built, that's long gone. I once had a car but I crashed it. I once had a guitar but I smashed it. I once, wait where am I going with this?
njmeadowlanders
I didn't see the derby...but 28 in the FIRST ROUND????!?!?! Are you #$@%^$*^(&*ing kidding me!!!?!?!?And then he quit after 4 in the 2nd voluntairily b/c he was so far up?And then he didn't win the whole thing? Come on...they need to do it like a 9-inning game. Here's how:Everyone gets 9 outs (3 innings). The top 4 advance to the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings. Then the 7th, 8th, and 9th go to the final 2. Extra innings as necessary. Now I know some of you will say it takes drama out of the derby, but the man hit 28 in the first round, then quit the 2nd not to waste energy, and he doesn't win. Come on. TFoA
Who cares if he didn't win...he's still gonna be remembered for hitting 28 HRs in a round. I watched the tail end of it, and it was ridiculous. How cool must that be, to have your name chanted in Yankee Stadium and NOT be a Yankee?

Come on.Something similiar is proposed by I think Rob Neyer on espn every year.He says have the normal first round...then only two guys make it and they go back and forth for 9 innings. DaytonBlue
How great would it be if MLB was like WWF, and right after the last "round" was completed, the lights went off, music hits, and out comes A-Rod, Ryan Howard, or some other masher and the "winner" of the derby finds out he has to go through that secret person to really win?I like it. HedleyLamarr
That was an insane performance by Hamilton. He didn't win the contest, but he won a lot of admiration in the baseball world tonight. Kudos to Josh, thanks for the show! And watching that celebrity game just reminded me how much I lust Maria Menounos!
slapshot
Does anyone really care who wins? The general reaction I get is that people just want to see who can hit the most (whether winning overall or not), or who can hit the farthest.By far, the Derby MVP was Hamilton. Doubtful anyone will remember Morneau as the winner.Remember the '99 All Star Game in Boston? I don't remember Ken Griffey Jr. winning. All I remember are Mark McGwire's moonshots across the street. Steroids or not, you remember the display and distance, not the trophy presentation. Back-to-Back Fatal Forty Champion 2015 & 2016

Come on.This won't entertain the fans at all. You expect batters to get in a groove in less than 3 swings before their "inning" is finished? And this would really slow down the Derby to a crawl....not that this year's version wasn't long enough. They need to go back to the old format: First Round: Each hitter gets 10 outs. Tie-breaker is their HR total in the first half of the season. Top 4 advance.Semi-Finals: Each hitter gets 10 outs. Tie-breaker is the HR totals from the First Round. Top 2 advance.Finals: Each hitter gets 5 outs. Higher total wins. Tie-breaker is sudden-death.
