The Redskins will be wearing white at home for their first 4 home games of the season and wear burgundy at home for their last 4 home games starting with the Pittsburgh game on 11/3.

That's good news! That means for the first time EVER, the Skins will be wearing burgundy jerseys/white pants vs. the Steelers....that includes preseason and scrimmages. The Skins haven't worn burgundy jerseys at all vs. the Steelers since 1969!!

Not entirely true. I've seen footage of a 1974 preseason game with the Skins in burgundy and the Steelers in white. It was footage of Joe Gilliam in a piece NFL Films did a few years ago.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that. It's always cheesed me off that the Skins have been wearing white at home for so long...now if only they'd go back to their 2002 throwbacks, all would be right in the football world.

In the years before Gibbs returned, they wore the burgundy jerseys at home pretty regularly.

More than regularly ... all the time.

At first Gibbs' move was seen as nothing more than hopping on the popular "make Dallas wear blue" bandwagon. (Gibbs' first home game was vs. Dallas) But he later said he was influenced by his time with the Chargers and just liked the white better.

Norv kept the white-at-home going, but Schottenheimer switched back and Spurrier was apparently not bothered enough to notice and didn't change anything there.

I really like the idea. The white-on-burgundy has become the familiar look but I don't like how it becomes a 14- or 15-times-a season look.

I personally think that the Skins white on burgundy look is the best look in football.

I think the numbers on the burgundy jerseys are too thick, compared to those on the white jerseys.

I hope never to see the Redskins in a monochrome set ever agian.

The only other change I would make to the current kit is thinning the pants stripes.

i quickly tired of the white on burgandy and then when they went on the streak a couple years ago they went white on white. i too prefer the 02 throwbacks but i like the burgandy on white.

I wanna see them in all Burgundy (monochrome), at least once!

I bet we see them for that first game against Pittsburgh.

Its a Monday Night game and the players have wanted to do it for years. Stodgy, old Gibbs wouldn't let it happen, since he thought it was still 1982. With a fresh face as the head coach, I think it happens this year for at least that first prime time game against Pittsburgh.

They will also wear burgandy against Dallas, Philadelphia and the Giants at home too.

I personally love the white on burgundy, but it does get rather repetitive when they wear it for 14 or 15 games a season, so it'll be nice to see a little more of the burgundy on white combo. The all whites I can deal with, but I will lose all respect for Zorn if he has them wear all burgundy. Very few monos work, and burgundy definately isn't one of them.

 No, Gibbs thought that a professional football team should look good, and not like a high school squad. If the players do decided to look like trash and wear monochrome, I hope they are thrashed so resoundingly and humiliated to the point that they can never wear the combo again. I'm not thinking a Superbowl XX blowout, I am thinking a mid 90's Florida State vs. Division 2A blowout. 77-6.
