It wasn't as obvious as the 'Natinals' error last year, but I'm thinking the MLB needs to hire a jersey proof-reader. FiddySicks
The more I see of the Giants road jersey the more I think it looks like total garbage. There's so many problems and inconsistencies with it that it hurts the entire set. They're one of the few teams that I think would look a ton better if they put their home primary script on the road jersey. I love that they put San Francisco on the road jersey, but the way they do it is just brutal. There has got to be a better way to do it than what they do now. It's a classic uni that looks just as good as it did when Mays, Cepeda, McCovey, and Marichal donned it. I think to put the home script on the road would be a huge mistake and a step backwards for the Giants identity. The opinions I express are mine, and mine only. If I am to express them, it is not to say you or anyone else is wrong, and certainly not to say that I am right.

They don't need the same wordmark twice on one jersey.I think the jersey would look much better without any patch at all, but if the Giants absolutely must have one, they could use the nice-looking patch from the roads. TheOldRoman
Wow, Tim Lincecum is a very ugly man. I agree about the road patch, though. Very nice. Put that on the home jersey and call it a day.I really like the Giants' set (sans new alt hat and jersey), but now that you pointed the home patch out to me, I can't get over it. That is bad. Wordmark patches are bad to begin with, but when the same wordmark is on the chest is chest, it is awful. It is inexcusable expecially when they designed such a nice patch for the road jersey. Just flip the colors on the script:Not that I dislike the Giants' road uniform, but this would be better than the simple block they use now. Even better, however, would be if they introduced a "SAN FRANCISCO" script in the same typeface as the "GIANTS" script used on the home cream jerseys. The_Admiral
They used to have matching scripts. It must have been kind of hard to read from a distance, because they dropped it when they tweaked the arching on the home script.I don't mind the arched block letters. I actually think it fits them better than the script I posted, which might be offensively close to the Dodgers and Athletics for the ICSs of the world. Block is fine. The gold drop-shadow is unnecessary, that's all. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

powersurge
Can't say that I like the script over the current font on the road jerseys that much to warrant a change to be quite honest. I actually think its much easier to read from afar the way it is. In the end, I opt for a more legible font instead of an overly styled font....especially on a road jersey. But thats just me. As someone mentioned, I think the patch on the home jersey needs to go. I'm not a huge fan of patches....especially for a team that is pretty well known in the history of baseball and sports in general. The patch is totally unnecessary. I'd prefer a sleeve number or nothing at all.

In the past I always thought this particular script logo was terrible but I think that was due to the orange and black tops they put it on. On the white and grays I really like it. The Giants' road uniform is perfect, and the cream whites are pretty cool, too. I'm not a big fan of cursive script, especially on road uniforms. There are a few teams who pull cursive script off pretty well (the Dodgers with the home and road treatment), but that's because I'm so used to seeing them with for the long haul. For example, I'd love to see the Tigers go back to the block "DETROIT" on the road, even though the Tigers have some history with the cursive and even though they've had the current road cursive treatment for a while. But I grew up in the '70s, so my frame of reference for their road uniforms is the "DETROIT" block script. I think your personal frame of reference has a bit to do with whether something pleases your eye or looks out of place.
